Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Having worked in 400KWS back when it was first built, most people found it very workable. The free tram right out front actually made meetings in the 'core' of the CBD easier to get to than it is for a lot of offices located, say, in the Hindmarsh Sq vicinity. I do think there are a number of busine...

This one is already quite prominent in the skyline as you go down KWS on the tram. When it's at full height and finished, it will really visually 'close in' Currie Street up the Light Square section I think.

Glazing looking really good so far! Yep. I know there's been some impatience with this one, but the quality of the glass (so far) and even how nice the detailing looks from the limited amount we can see (wow, it's like the render might actually bear some resemblance to the final product) makes it w...

  Kyren's buildings are all bland but good ole Samaras seems to be the only one with any balls erecting towers. Wait 'til the student accommodation tower is built. It most probably will take the spotlight. As for Realm, that too is nothing special. Simple building with a wavy form thanks ...

I think we need some honesty and realism here. I get the vested interests as per this Advertiser article are out in force but let's get real. Tunnels or flyovers still require land acquisition (entries and exits, ventilation shafts, emergency accesses and for raised roads, supports - see the Superwa...

Two thoughts after looking at the most recent photos posted: 1. As someone else said, the articulation/step effect at the top of Adelaidean is truly necessary to give it some sort of break to the blandness; and 2. I'm not so fussed about the student apartment tower (now) being built in front of it b...

It's been almost a month since my last distance shot. Not a lot of outward progress, looks like formwork up about 2 levels and the core similarly up about 2 levels. The core is either at full height or has one to two floors to go before it's there.

The one thing that is missing here is an underground link to Victoria square tram stop - I know this has been talked about in the past. It would have been nice to improve CBD pedestrian access to that extent and also to have traffic light free pedestrian access to this new precinct. Agree fully. Ac...

Do we have any idea if there’s even demand for a chunky new office building? Forecasting the future based on the past is fool's game, but that said, the most recent public research from KnightFrank on the Adelaide office market (issued Sep 2019) highlights the following: - In the six months to July...

With both Realm and Adelaidean now topped out, this is to my mind the next most 'impactful' building underway (although the Casino is a close second given it's location and amazing glass). It's surprisingly long on the North-South axis which means it will really stand out from the west for those com...

Fantastic. Amazing to think we had three buildings 100m+ (Westpac, Grenfell Centre and Telstra) for more or less 30 years from 1988 to 2018. With Kodo's recent completion, Adelaidean topped out and Realm presumably not far off topping out as well, we'll double our 100m+ count to six in the space of ...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

The Australia Post site was listed for sale yesterday. At just under 18,000 sqm it is the largest CBD site to be offered to the market. This is a massive opportunity for Adelaide. Hopefully there is some grand thinking by whoever the purchaser ends up being. Interesting - only yesterday an article ...
