[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

A two lane tunnel is an absolute waste of time and is just going to create a bottleneck. They obviously haven't heard of the congestion problems with Sydney's M5 Tunnel if this is what they're considering for Adelaide. To future proof the South Road Motorway it must continue to be 3 lanes all the w...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

DPTI have gone very quiet on the tram/train station / overpass at goodwood station. With any luck doing something sensible there is one of the projects that they are considering a business case for. The train/tram connectivity there is ridiculous and the station is old. Yes it's close to the newly b...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I know they mentioned it for being planning AND early works, but $252 million seems like a hell of a lot for planning. An optimistic way of looking it is that it’s only 5% of the total project cost... But a pessimistic way of looking at it is that if it’s being spent on consultants at say $2000/day,...

[PRO] Re: Goodwood/Springbank/Daws Road Intersection

Caltex Daw Park employee of two years, Gowthan Ginjupalli will lose his job as a result of the acquisition. He said he was concerned about the affect the closure of the petrol station would have on people with a disability who work at the nearby Bedford Group and who frequent the Caltex. Mr Ginjupa...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

"There is no evidence, that the Minister is able to produce, that one quarter of two-section ticket holders are rorting the system," he said. This evidence would be easy enough to produce (on aggregate). Using the tap-on data, you could produce a report that shows people who are regularly tapping o...

They should do it while grade separating Brighton Road, rebuild Brighton and Hove Stations and remove Warradale.
Federal government is putting $85.5 million towards the Brighton Road (Hove) level crossing upgrade.

It's hard to believe that they wouldn't include a station as well.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

I'm in favor of privatising the train network in particular if it is done properly. Remember - privatisation doesn't necessarily mean selling off the assets and allowing the owner to do what they like with prices. Under the model used for the busses, I believe the government owns the busses and infr...

South Australia’s most ambitious infrastructure project will finally be completed after Prime Minister Scott Morrison pledged a further $1.5 billion for the North-South Corridor. The new promise means tomorrow night’s Federal Budget will include $2.7 billion for the project, which will create a non...

I don't think the tunnel idea will stack up as time goes on, although as an idea it does have more ongoing practicality than the piecemeal approach we have to upgrades of the corridor at present. Piecemeal has its benefits though. We can build the road as funding comes through but more importantly ...

Bitumen has gone done on a section of the lowered road near the southern expressway end.

Based on this as well as a recent newsletter I reckon there will be a switch to traffic flowing under flinders drive and Sturt Road (in one direction only) fairly soon.

Opinion piece in the tiser Before the last state election almost a year ago, both Liberal and Labor pledged they would not introduce toll roads. They were absolutely right. And absolutely wrong. Politically they were right. Toll roads are a political tar baby, a three-lane highway to Opposition. Any...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

DPTI has had billions and billions of dollars in project money over the last 10 years. That money goes a long way towards papering over any inadequacies that the department may have. It would be interesting to see how well it operated in an environment where the project $ had dried up yet the dead w...
