Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway
I noticed yesterday when driving through that the new variable speed limit signs in the tunnel and on the approaches are bidirectional, ie they are on both sides of the gantry. You can see this in the renders if you look close enough. Presumably this is so they can close one tunnel off during and em...

Not a strong rumour, it’s actually happening. They need to widen the road corridor beneath the overpass to accomodate the massive corridor for the motorway ramps and tunnel portal. You can see the sheer scale on the interactive T2D map. The Marion/Cross Road overpass is going to be built at the sam...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Vietjet flights were launched as return (via Perth) flights on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Looking a few months into the future they are now bookable only on Saturday and Tuesday out of Adelaide, although the 5x a week flights from Perth remain. I flew Vietjet in January and it ...

It corresponds to the newly released urban design strategy. https://www.t2d.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0015/1300092/T2D-Urban-Design-Strategy.pdf It does read as a typical consultants report - rehashed filler from other reports they have produced, tailored from various stakeholder meetings and...

Thanks for the lecture - I’d say it’s more appropriate to leave the culture wars out of their announcement. They could have kept it race and culture-war agnostic and stuck to the merits of the development, but didn’t. Instead they dive straight into it by making political statements in the opening s...

I’m also not sure why a video like this starts with a welcome to country.
At the end of the day this is just an high density apartment project. And what I’m seeing is more money given to the aboriginal elites who would have worked as consultants on the project.

It all comes down to cost. That would require two bridges to be built, not one. Yes and the duplication more or less matched the design of the one way freeway, which was built to the stingiest budget imaginable - I found out only recently (here I think) that it was built using department's operatio...

One of the lanes in each direction in the tunnel should be a HOV (bus/truck) lane. I know it failed but a bus lane along Anzac Highway from South Road to City should be implemented either on side or middle like Hackney Road . What’s so special about the tunnel? it’s not done on any other part north...

Can someone please post the article ? Revised designs for the Torrens to Darlington project, set to be revealed by the state government on Wednesday after a lengthy review, will cost upwards of $15bn to complete. The new designs will retain twin northern and southern tunnels along the 10.5km stretc...

True, although universities consist of three arms - administration, research and teaching.
Presumably it's only the teaching side that would struggle with lifts.

Worth noting that the faculties that are earmarked to move are currently all at City East. City East occupies a wierdly uncomofrtable quadrant of the the block that is largely occupied by The university of Adelaide. Surely it's a fait accompli that The university of adelaide will purchase the land a...

Thinking a little outside the box - from a national security perspective, is it a good idea to have the two hopsitals so close together?
I.e. if we are bombed, chemical/biological attack or otherwise. Looks like a lot of eggs in the one basket.

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
I think we would have been far better off keeping with the pattern of the last 15 years - a $1 Billion dollar, 2-5km project at at time. We would probably be further along than halting everything and debating a "big bang" 14 Billion dollar tunnel. It's also a way of managing the risk in sm...
