Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Ahh, never change, Adelaide: A government spokesperson responded: “The State Government is not currently investigating a rail link between Adelaide Airport and the city, and has no plans to do so.” Big Country Town Mentality. Go to line isn't it chilli. Used multiple times now on the tram thread an...

https://reneweconomy.com.au/bowen-says-first-battery-storage-tender-is-massively-oversubscribed-with-19000-mw-of-projects/ Looks like things are progressing nicely. EDIT In a similar vein, here's an article, with data, showing even more peak load being taken by batteries overseas, confirming that th...

Re: Forum Etiquette
Nothing personal. I actually agree with you but think that the tone of this forum overall has gone down with multiple people including myself, trying to argue with someone on abc's level. I seriously have no idea why abc is on here or is allowed to be on here. Let's all try to keep the bar while st...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Tell me why you think the Chinese are investing in coal plants... Many of these are actually not in accordance with government policy. So, in a word: Corruption. Not a surprise. But hardly an endorsement of coal. What role do the 23 provinces have? Are electricity developments initiated by central ...

suddenly they're not reliable after 100 years... but wind turbines that only work when the wind blows a certain speed range are reliable you can't make this up You didn't highlight the preceding two words "one of". Specifically Callide C which is only 20 years old - it's one of Australia'...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
people can read the article and make up their own minds, however you dictated what that opinion would be with your original comment The point I saw was that high retail prices are because retailers have to build in a margin to cover "high price events" when the actual spot price jumps fro...

The Energy Regulator provided a graph to show wholesale cost reduction due to renewables. So, I provided what was literal...

because we should listen to an activist who has a vested interest... That what's called an "ad hominem" logical fallacy. People can read the article and make up their own minds. Obviously, some people cannot be reasoned with. people can read the article and make up their own minds, howeve...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
An article explaining why retail power prices go up, even though wholesale prices are going down. Spoiler alert, it's not because of renewables. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-24/energy-bills-still-rising-despite-falling-wholesale-prices/103741682 because we should listen to an activist who ha...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
To be honest, I cannot see a business case for urban rail to Virginia and Riverlea ever stacking up, despite being quite a large potential catchment area (40,000+ people). It would be an extension of about 16-17km which you would need to double-track to join it to the existing Gawler line. This is ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Hardly a surprise. We had a government that gave China the finger, then sucked up to the US. It's hardly unreasonable for the Chinese to say: Ok, get US tourists then. In no way should we get bogged down in the politics of China vs the US. However, having made a decision to take sides, why expect C...
