Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere on this forum yet but just stumbled across this:

https://www.planningalerts.org.au/applications/1258610

Concerning 381 King William Street being demolished. Anyone know anything more?

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Is it just me or does all this demolition even before a solid plan for the site has been finalised seem a bit hasty and short-sighted?

I hate the blame game also.
But couldn't they just use ground covers and shrubs or small trees to hold the dirt together at this locations or is the slope too steep and concrete is the only solution?

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

I was chatting to a guy at their sales centre in the city yesterday and I mentioned about all the low rise buildings around the old harbours building. He told me the council has put a height limit on this development of 4 stories. He said there is the demand there for taller apartment buildings but ...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Random Port related question - the former Observation structure from the old Jervois Bridge was removed before the new government building was built behind the Fishermans Wharf building and Quest. I read recently that the tower was supposed to be re-erected next to Harts Mill but nothing has happene...

I see this site out of my office window every day - nothing exciting happening there for sure. Just an expensive carpark (its about $15 a day and you don't even get to be undercover. The carpark behind my office is $16 a day earlybird and you are undercover)

I really hope its not a guide as to what the end product will look like. Boring and uninspired but that's the current state of the government I suppose.
Just what everyone wanted, floating glass cubes. I also hope whatever we end up with is a lot taller than what is shown.

Re: News & Developments: Prospect

Is that supermarket being planned for the site on the corner of Regency and Churchill where those apartments are also being built currently? Will be interesting to see if Islington station gets an upgrades considering 2 new developments are being built right next to it. I was hoping it would have go...

I think there are some good points in that piece (never thought I would say that about an Advertiser article). Personally, I wouldn't mind having to pay for tolls if we do get some decent infrastructure out of it and country roads are also upgraded, not just in the metro area. I do find it curious t...

re. the "loop", I'm just shocked that the transport department has actually thought ahead for once and basically created a special service for a big event. It doesn't happen that much these days...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The Harbours Building development is a breath of fresh air. Finally a developer that wants to maintain and celebrate a buildings original features. Can't wait to see the 1970's inspired interior. I love this era and have always said it never goes out of a fashion.

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

I'm sure I saw a photo / read something on one of their updates stating that this building would be most likely kept and re-used. It might sound strange but I think at the very least The Chapel should be kept as the interior is quite unique. A lot of these buildings that are being demolished at the ...

I thought they were keeping the Residential Wing (the former Nurses Building at the rear of the site which is sort of shaped like a V)?

[U/C] Re: 69-71 Light Square | ~55m | 14lvls | Residential

Personally I think the "raw / unfinished" look on any building is disgusting. That development on Whitmore Square to me has always looked unfinished and almost "third world-ish" in comparison to older and well finished buildings. It just looks cheap and nasty and the less we have of this the better....
