[PRO] Re: Hotel Wright Street | 68m |18 Levels | Mixed Use

I've been working down the south end of town for over a year and walked past that hotel about once a week at least. Signs in the windows say its closed for renovations so I am guessing they are keeping the actual hotel building but building something around it. Could be interesting...

[U/C] Re: GPO Exchange | 85m | 22 Levels | Office

I also went into the GPO earlier this week and noticed how beautiful but also how run down it looks. Paint peeling on the walls and a big portrait that used to hang behind the counter in a lovely big frame is also missing. Hopefully this space does remain open to the public and is restored. Would be...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Photos from adelaidenow show that demolition of the structure started at about 8:30am today. IMO a wasted opportunity to create something unique and draw in visitors.

[PRO] Re: Brighton Road Grade Separation

The Tapleys level crossing would be an interesting one as it would affect the golf course no matter if the railway was put under or over the road. Also, I own a unit pretty much right on top of that intersection so it would also be interesting to see if the government would need to purchase any surr...

[PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

Also, wasn't there an upgrade of the Woodville Station announced not long ago? I wonder if this "upgrade" was also to conveniently cut the connection to Grange like they did at the NRM - "Oh whoops, oh well its cut now. Might as well get rid of the rest of it" Knoll has to go. He obviously has no id...

[PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

Oh joy. Yet another waste of money planning study. I really feel for the railway museum having to sell rollingstock, clear space and cut their access to the mainline all, for now, no good reason. And not to mention all the time wasted by volunteers to liaise with government officials to discuss the ...

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere on this forum yet but just stumbled across this:

Concerning 381 King William Street being demolished. Anyone know anything more?

Is it just me or does all this demolition even before a solid plan for the site has been finalised seem a bit hasty and short-sighted?

I hate the blame game also.
But couldn't they just use ground covers and shrubs or small trees to hold the dirt together at this locations or is the slope too steep and concrete is the only solution?

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

I was chatting to a guy at their sales centre in the city yesterday and I mentioned about all the low rise buildings around the old harbours building. He told me the council has put a height limit on this development of 4 stories. He said there is the demand there for taller apartment buildings but ...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Random Port related question - the former Observation structure from the old Jervois Bridge was removed before the new government building was built behind the Fishermans Wharf building and Quest. I read recently that the tower was supposed to be re-erected next to Harts Mill but nothing has happene...

I see this site out of my office window every day - nothing exciting happening there for sure. Just an expensive carpark (its about $15 a day and you don't even get to be undercover. The carpark behind my office is $16 a day earlybird and you are undercover)

I really hope its not a guide as to what the end product will look like. Boring and uninspired but that's the current state of the government I suppose.
Just what everyone wanted, floating glass cubes. I also hope whatever we end up with is a lot taller than what is shown.

Re: News & Developments: Prospect

Is that supermarket being planned for the site on the corner of Regency and Churchill where those apartments are also being built currently? Will be interesting to see if Islington station gets an upgrades considering 2 new developments are being built right next to it. I was hoping it would have go...
