Re: News & Developments: Prospect

I just hope that the railway station gets an upgrade too ready for the new development but I won't be holding my breath

[U/C] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel

I've often thought that the original city plan for Adelaide turned its back on the river and we still have buildings and structures that basically separate us from the river. The ASER project did nothing to improve this situation either. Buildings cafes and other structures as mentioned to cover up ...

Noticed on the train this morning there is a blue shade type screen erected on the northern side of the building and a large skip bin out the front of the former railways control building. I assume internal demolition has started.

[APP] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

IMO it would have been really neat if SAHMRI was built as one big massive iconic building instead of 2 smaller buildings. Could have been a really nice landmark.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Speaking of the old Balfours shop in the mall, I noticed that they have taken down the original Balfours sign that was covered by the factory logo. I really hope that it was taken down to fix it rather than it being thrown away. I've saw on one of those Urban Exploration sites that the sign was stil...

Not sure if its already been asked (or answered already) but for this one to be built what will need to be demolished first?

[PRO] Re: 3-27 Walsh Street, Thebarton | 26m | 8 Levels | Apartments

And once again we are left with a big vacant block full of weeds. I really hope that some new rules can be implemented that only allow demolition once the new build is 110% certain. Its not a good look especially when people start dumping rubbish on these vacant blocks and the temporary fence blows ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

I knew something was happening with Singapore Airlines as their signage was removed from that small office building on King William St near the Mall months ago. All they left was the small logo on top of the building. Not sure if it has since been removed.

Agreed that the Stamford looks terrible. Still can't believe they ruined the façade of the old AMP building (which was marble btw) and clad it like they did when something like that would have been better suited to the Stamford

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

It was back on the tram this morning for my trek to work. I actually liked the bus a bit better as it went straight from South Terrace to the Entertainment Centre without the need to change vehicles.
Apparently trams won't be stopping at the new City South platform until the end of the month though.

The site has been used as a works depot for the tram works in King William Street. Unfortunately nothing to do with the Mayfield development as far as I know.

I've been working down the south end of town for over a year and walked past that hotel about once a week at least. Signs in the windows say its closed for renovations so I am guessing they are keeping the actual hotel building but building something around it. Could be interesting...
