[COM] Re: PRO: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion

From the initial renders and information at hand - I'm rather underwhelmed. The site has a lot of potential and I don't really see anything overly new in this proposal except a generic extension and a new hotel. Am I missing elements that make this "world class"?

[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

While the designs are commendable for being a vast improvement on the current square - I can't help but question whether this proposal lends itself to reinvigorating the area on a daily basis? It feels like there needs to be something to pull workers into the square from the surrounding office areas...

Re: #U/C: Engineering Building | 33m | 8lvls | Adel. University

I'm no NIMBY but Union Hall is one building that has enormous sentimental attachment for many students for the university. I think they have really stirred up a hornets nest in choosing that site. There are plenty of other better locations, Union Hall should not be condemned to confines of our memor...

Re: Adelaide has to build a NEW stadium for 2018/2022 World Cup

Even if it drops off the radar, its still a win. It leaves the door open to anything else. I'm hard pressed to think of many things worse than a RAH relocation there.

Re: Adelaide has to build a NEW stadium for 2018/2022 World Cup

quote:Benski81 With all due respect I don't agree. You're quoting figures from 2004 and it's easy to pick statistics that distort things to justify what you're saying. Rubbish. I haven't distorted anything. That was the last time the Socceroos played in Adelaide which is exactly what Adam asked. Fi...

Re: City's new festive hub planned

I'm so torn right now! I like the idea, and I feel that executed right it would be fantastic... however I can't help but feel that it will turn into that "another park no one uses" that the Property Council warns us about. Sure it would be FANTASTIC for Fringe, however for 11 months of the...

I sure as hell hope they give this site more than the usual soundproofing. Placing a retirement village right next to the venue of the Big Day Out seems like a recipe for conflict... (Friend heard this year's Rage set all the way from his place in Mile End...)

Re: Poll pledge: Libs would bid for 2018 Commonwealth Games

There is a downside aswell. The WA liberals support uranium mining in WA unlike the WA Labor party which had promised to ban it. This is bad news for us as it creates a competitor to our uranium monopoly. Thanks mate, lets hope that WA stick to doing what they do best and not mess with our future :...

Re: #Proposed : $25m Motorsport Complex (Garden Island)

I can picture environmentalists protesting this. Most definately. I must admit when I read jet boat racing I became somewhat concerned about any impact this might have on the Port River dolphin population. Even if its proven that impacts would be minimal, you could probably still expect to see Gree...

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade

Considering South Road will have an underpass of Sturt Road, wouldn't it make sense to simultaneously just extend the Tonsley line to Flinders already? The line comes so close, but is too far to serve any useful purpose. Failing that I would hope that they at least have the foresight to at least lea...

Re: Proposed - Bay Junction re-development - Glenelg -$60million

I recently heard that Holdfast Council were getting cold feet due to inadaquate levels of parking allocated for the development and the additional pressures this will have on the larger shortage of parks in Glenelg. Anyone got any news on what is happening with respect to this?
