[COM] Re: Armada Arndale (Redevelopment) | $200m

That's interesting, I didn't realise that Westfield changed the name back to Arndale. During the mid 80s it was definitely called Westfield Kilkenny. The reason why I remember that is because my parents used to always still call it Arndale and can remember being a smart ass and always correcting my ...

[COM] Re: Armada Arndale (Redevelopment) | $200m

It's had more names and owners than any other centre I've heard of. Originally it was owned by the English Arndale shopping centre company, and called Kilkenny Arndale. Then Westfield Arndale (a bit like Coca-Cola Pepsi that!) Centro Arndale. Then Centro became Federation Centres, and subsequently ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

A Reddit user snuck into Level 5 Myer Centre last week and posted this lengthy video. At one stage you can see down into Level 4 and some of the walls they have put up there. https://youtu.be/LiMewAOgwMI Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk Looking back now, surely the decision to close Dazzlelan...

[U/C] Re: Westfield Tea Tree Plaza (Extension)

That could possibly be true. I know that's what happened with Buongiorno, they were told that they had two options they either committed to moving to the new precinct or had to close up. I think they're beginning to move businesses on in readiness for the upgrade. I imagine it will eventually happen...

[U/C] Re: Westfield Tea Tree Plaza (Extension)

I spoke to someone a few weeks ago who works for the Scentre Group, they claimed that Stage 2 of the TTP expansion should be starting this calander year. Apparently Stage 1 has been an even bigger success than they anticipated so they want to strike while the iron is hot. Likely to involve repainti...

[COM] Re: U/C: Armada Arndale Redevelopment | $200m

Once David Jones closed John Martins at Arndale, Westfield saw the writing on the wall and sold it and bought West Lakes because they knew it was not going to recover. Sadly over the last 15 years it has felt as though Arndale has been dying a death by 1000 cuts. I actually have no idea what can be...

Re: Parafield Airport | Developments & News

Here we are at the end of 2018 and still no sign of The District being built anytime soon. Last I heard there was a legal battle as there were also potential plans to build an outlet centre next to the homemaker centre at Gepps Cross so the developers for The District were trying to stop the other o...

[U/C] Re: Westfield Tea Tree Plaza (Extension)

The TTP extension blew me away when I first saw it, very keen now for them to hurry up and start the 2nd stage of it ie the retail expansion. Seems like a perfect time now that half of the old Tea Tree Plus is empty, hopefully after Christmas it might finally get underway. The plans I have seen, st...

[U/C] Re: Westfield Tea Tree Plaza (Extension)

Tea Tree Plus is a planning nightmare and should never have been granted planning permission. As most of the stores are currently empty now would be a good time to relocate them into the main building and demolish T ea Tree Plus so they can extend the centre properly. Back in the day it was a great...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Anyone else underwhelmed by Adelaide's H&M store ? Considering that they had the floor space available to have three floors I am not sure why they made the decision to skimp and only went with two. The menswear section is embarrassingly small and would be a quarter of the size of the menswear sectio...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

One of the lasting memories from the old David Jones were the old single file escalators that were in the upper floors.

I'm not sure whos brought idea it was to build escalators that were only wide enough for one person, but it definitely made it difficult for parents with young children.

So that pretty much confirms that Rundle Mall Plaza redevelopment is Zara, it's a shame that it's not H&m.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Any news on RMP?

I have been told that it's Zara who is moving in, but it's all pure speculation at this point.
