Re: The Great Roads Debate

Buried in the documentation for the South Road Superway is the traffic forecasts for 2031. http://www.southroad.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/43258/Part_B_Section_17_Transport.pdf 139600 v/d on South Road between the South Road service ramps and Regency Road. Re: The Great Roads Debate

So, since the extension to City West was a complete waste, in your opinion it is better to have two independent tram lines (Glenelg and Port Rd) entering the city from different directions and terminating at different ends of the city, with the only interconnection provided by the BeeLine bus servic...

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade

I just can't understand why this section wasn't given absolute priority?? Because it carries the most freight. Oh, and not to mention the danger to traffic users when you have a fully loaded Semi trailer travelling at 60km/hr down the road with absolutly NO medium strip or any sort of divider?? If ...

Re: The Great Roads Debate

Correspondence from the DTEI last year confirms that it is the South Eastern Freeway, although it is signed as Princes Highway (see below). I just found the correspondence and it is actually 'South East Highway' for DTEI purposes but signed as Princes Highway. The National Highway between Tailem Be...

Re: The Great Roads Debate

Nice to see the sign company are still making mistakes, that one where they misspelt Noarlunga was a good one though. This is a DTEI directive, not a sign company mistake. I don't fully understand the road classification and naming system in SA - there does not seem to be any provision of classific...

Re: #PRO: Northern Connector | 14km

There's very, very little demand for such a movement as William Hovell Drive passes through nothing but paddocks.

This may change when Molonglo is eventually built out (with the 'transit boulevard' linking to Bindubi Street) and then a connection may be considered desirable.

Canberra Roads

 Don't know how I missed that - yeah you can't go from GDE southbound to William Hovell Drive.

Re: #PRO: Northern Connector | 14km

The interchange to the south (Glenloch Interchange) is an interesting creation. It does not cater for all possible movements It does cater for all movements?! (a u-turn does not count as a movement) The pre-GDE Glenloch Interchange was even more bizarre with right-lane-exits that met at a signalise...

This is incorrect.

Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km

Norman - did the sign you saw with M20 on it have the National Highway shield?

I'm curious whether SA will continue to use the National Highway shield now that the system no longer exists.

perhaps a brief summary of your experience that would make you an SME in this area. Sure, my CV is on its way... My point was that you have no idea of the background of people posting in this forum and it is essentially irrelevant - focus only on the arguments at hand. Just because someone a...

Re: The Great Roads Debate

my experience in life has shown me if you discuss things with SME’s (Subject Matter Experts) you’re more than likely going to receive some pretty valid information. In which case, why do you continue to ignore or refute the information given here by SMEs? Besides, I would not call Civil Engineers S...
