Re: Cruising in Adelaide via Neons
What do you think about decking out Adelaide to salute the man who shaped this town? Makes his name 'Light' a top tribute. I reckon that would be a great idea! I love the current trend of 'light' developments with the Rundle Lantern and EC. I guess making the Northern Lights permanent would be a gr...

Re: #VISION Liberal's railyard plan: new stadium & entertainment
Absolutely, it's a great democracy when the opposition can back the government of the day into committing to something like a cbd entertainment precinct or electrification of the rail system. Now, hopefully the message has come through loud and clear about the hospital with the seat of Adelaide fal...

Re: State Election 2010
It was also my view not long ago, but haven't you noticed Labor are getting more like the Liberals? It used to be that when the government made a bad decision, the Liberals stuck to their guns whereas Labor backed down in the face of public opposition. Now Labor are trying to force their bad decisi...

Re: #U/C: Main South Rd / Victor Harbor Rd Intersection Upgrade
Hope to god it's not just another bandaid fix by placing traffic lights as the current stop sign already creates problems. Unfortunately it is exactly that, an extra set of traffic lights. I'll try and find the article that details it. Welcome to the forum azz :D EDIT: http://www.nationbuildingprog...

Yeah my folks have tickets for Fiji in July. Bugger for them.rogue wrote:It was reported today that Pacific Blue will cease flights to Fiji from Adelaide in May due to lack of demand.
I went in late January and thought that this would eventually happen, there was about 30 - 40 people on both flights.

Re: #VISION Liberal's railyard plan: new stadium & entertainment
Brilliant idea! What I cant believe is that people whinge when there's no vision and then when there is a vision they whinge again???? Its no wonder why the rest of Australia still thinks SA's a rust bucket and backwater. Not my thoughts but unfortunately thats still the reality for SA unless peopl...

Re: #VISION Liberal's railyard plan: new stadium & entertainment
So it's the same vision released a few months ago with a little more explanation. I know they can't do anything cement due to the costs etc but so far this seems pretty.... meh. Initial thoughts: Like - Having hotels or even residential (perhaps) built up around the precinct, establishes a constant ...

How old is the Union Hall? Is its significant history the reason why people are against knocking it down, because I can't see anything else going for it visually..

No, I deliberately posted it here because so many people here are under the illusion that it's a good design! Yes Aidan, I'm sure the architects who got paid thousands of dollars to design the building didn't consider its energy efficiency  /off topic Silly question, the $200 million pricemar...

Looks great! This is the type of innovation we need in buildings rather than a safe 'box' structure. Hopefully this will set a trend for the design of the new RAH.
Interesting to note that that ugly brutalist building alongside the rail tracks will remain, what is that used for anyway?

Re: Beer Garden
I've been meaning to share a story from the Fringe opening parade. George and I were standing next to an American man, and we got to chatting. He told us that he knows the CEO (his words) of something or other at Disneyland (or was it Disney World?). He went on to say that D-World/Land wants to ope...

My friend got a job at the Crown Hotel with training supposedly starting in March for an April opening. I think it'll be a good addition to the hotels in the CBD as well as people in and around hindmarsh square.
