Re: News & Discussion: Transport Projects

Unfortunately SA only has one Rapid Car charger for electric cars, these are high current DC supplies with a special plug, they require 3 phase power. It's the Mitsubishi office carpark. Telsa are building their own network of these chargers, but its only between Melbourne and Sydney so far. SA also...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

If only the Liberal government that built the O-bahn hadn't sabotaged things by making all the bridges too low for trams to pass under. Would cost a lot of that $160M just to raise the bridges (or lower the ground) just to gain that 30cm needed for tram overhead. The only 1:1 option as far as speed ...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

Salisbury is already the most Box Hill like suburb we have. But I expect the house prices there are dragged down by its proximity to Elizabeth. Actually it's the bodies in the barrels case that did that, the killers lived in Salisbury North. All 3 carriages of 4007 have apparently arrived and been ...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

The problem is lack of government funds for operational purposes. Extra services are due to be funded by the city car park tax I believe. Seems like a fair deal, the amount of car parks in the Adelaide CBD is entirely excessive, no other state has such a large percentage of the city as multi-story ...

[COM] Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Overpass

Sorry if someone has already mentioned this, but why was the overpass not created when the initial Oaklands Park station got it's redevelopment? It just seems like a massive waste of millions of dollars? I'm more than happy to see an overpass here, as the current set of two really close traffic lig...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport

The level crossing on Morphett and Diagonal roads, that's the one next to Oaklands station, is "stuck" this morning and hence delaying traffic on both roads. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/road-watch-faulty-boom-gates-at-warradale-and-a-breakdown-on-port-wakefield-rd-ca...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

Interesting to see the breakdown of how the votes changed in the 3 seats the Liberals have picked up this election. Firstly Mount Gambier http://www.abc.net.au/news/sa-election-2014/guide/moun/ Don Pegler (sitting member) lost 8.2% and 'Others' lost 2.3% (due to not contesting at all), a total of 9....

Re: Vision: Panalatinga Road Extension

My street directory from 1979 also shows that the road extends all the way down to Penneys Hill Road (now Upper Penneys Hill Road) to the South. The former road now services local houses, then where the map says "Road", has no evidence of a road, and it way too steep, so may have just bee...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

Latest Newspoll: Libs 53.3, ALP 47.7. It's newspoll however, you forgot the +/- 3% error margin on account of: 1. It being associated with that toerag that passes for an information source. 2. The loaded questions. 3. People not actually having time to answer how many questions they throw at you. E...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

I think it points to some serious issues in the state of the libs win the popular vote again but don't get into power. As much I am reluctant to see the Liberals elected, I have to agree. It's both a quirk of SA's electoral geography and a hangover from the Playmander days (when Labor smashed the p...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

I don't see either Labor or Liberal gaining a majority and we will end up with a hung parliament, and I think, we may, yet again, see Labor returned in minority government. The Liberal's extraordinary lack of policy detail is frightening. At least Labor has a somewhat formidable track record to go ...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

On another (personally disturbing) note, I heard on the radio this morning that sportsbet has closed betting on the election predicting a liberal landslide... seems like its another win for the shallow, empty promises, non-truths and general political spin :( Same thing happens every election, as o...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

If anyone's interested, I got news on the Gawler line electrification, and another station rebuild. This is from the horses mouth, eg the local politician himself. The $152m for the Gawler line does cover all the vital equipment, extending the line to Gawler is simply a matter of extending the wires...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

Spending money on things the state NEEDS is a bad thing when a better result can be achieved with less money spent. Our main unmet hospital requirements were in country areas - and they're still unmet. And while the RAH certainly needed upgrading, it didn't need rebuilding from scratch, and it cert...
