Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

"I don't think in five to 10 years time we're going to be building light rail networks. "There is a whole host of new technology that is coming down the pipe very quickly and whether that be electric buses, some sort of autonomous version, hydrogen buses, as well as trackless trams, it's going to p...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

For reference, this was the original masterplan from 2012 with significantly more water.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

About time they got a move on the wetland, but it does look as though it's significantly scaled back from what was originally in the Victoria Park masterplan from years and years ago. https://content.api.news/v3/images/bin/64970d4cae48b89e6932422635295599 https://content.api.news/v3/images/bin/a3a03...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

So a private professional sports team that makes multi-million dollar profits, is given parklands, more money, and a community facility. Fuck this shit.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Separate to the above, Burger Theory on Union Street will close this month. Not sure what'll happen to the Flinders Uni site, but the East End closing was probably a foregone conclusion once Betty's Burgers opened (following on from Grill'd and a less-than-popular menu change by BT). Shame the inte...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Tim Ross was doing some shows in the foyer of the Marine & Harbours Building, and last night Starfish were giving people a brief tour of the 7th floor before the show. Having been abandoned for 20-odd years, it's in surprisingly very good condition — relatively low levels of graffiti and no visible ...

I mean the UN, what a complete knob of a bloke.
Taking the piss? They’re a newspaper, not fucking Mad Magazine.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

New Rundle Mall looks good, clean store, well lit, plenty of checkouts, a cafe and windows looking out towards street and Hindmarsh Square Yep, a very nice supermarket indeed. Is it the first Foodland to have self serving checkouts? Norwood has had a small self-checkout area for quite a while now.

Re: Mad March 2019

Tasting Australia has been moved into the Mad March slot from April, and the Adelaide 500 has been moved into February proper to be held 20th-23rd of the month I believe. That will alleviate any noise complaints from any festival/fringe performances happening during the March period. I wonder what ...

Couldn't find the development application myself, so you have to make do with a Messenger article: Plans lodged for $30 million hotel in old DMH building at Port Adelaide https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/west-beaches/plans-lodged-for-30-million-hotel-in-old-dmh-building-at-port-adelaide/news...

I'm curious about why a party goods store needs a $70,000 computer system, and why it's apparently hardwired to the building.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

Welp, that'll be me out from using the train from now on. No way will I be paying for a full fare trip for one stop into the city.
