[COM] Re: Victoria Square Upgrade - $24m

I'm glad to see it at least mentioned again, but yes, it needs to be the whole hog — realign the roads, the grand arbours, all of the planting. Whilst some work is better than none, Adelaide needs to stop fucking around with half arseing things. Better to do a few things properly than doing too many...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

To me, the only places suitable in the city for high-end luxury is North Tce between KWS and Charles St, or the GPO building — the latter ideally combined with both the Victoria Square and Market Arcade developments fully completed.

Re: News & Developments: Prospect

I just hope that the railway station gets an upgrade too ready for the new development but I won't be holding my breath Wow, I only just noticed the station in the photo - it's that devoid of any facilities or shelter. If you squint, you might just make out the miniature bus stops half way ...

It's not like the store is going under due to lack of support, the article clearly states that the owners are retiring.

The same can be said for the Elder Park stop, the big garden beds at the end of the tracks have no plants whatsoever and have exposed sprinkler piping... Been this way for weeks.
That's just to match the upkeep standard of the rest of the riverbank precinct ;)

So how many similar, but pointlessly different, liveries are we up to across buses, trams and trains? It's a fucking dogs breakfast.

The St Louis on Rundle St is becoming "Toyama Japanese Cuisine". Coming soon graphics in the window pasted up this morning. Petrichor also has the windows papered up, so assuming some changes going on in there too.

Yo, just wonderin' if Monument East is still going to proceed with the construction? Haven't heard about any winning builder for this
As SRW mentioned on the previous page, a sales office / display room is being build on Rundle St at the moment.

[U/C] Re: Brickworks Redevelopment | $70m

There's a new "newsagent" now, but it's absolute rubbish — I've literally got more magazines in my "to read" pile than they have on racks for sale. It's basically just a glorified SA Lotteries outlet. Hell, even the Woolworths has a more diverse selection.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

It's a pretty dumb list. There's 8 criteria ranked out of 10, and then the end result is a straight unweighted average. Adelaide is propelled up the list by its 9.18/10 ranking for "shortest distance to city centre" and 8.11/10 for "cheapest parking". Other than abysmal rankings for "access to shops...

Hang on didn’t the revamp only just happen? Why so much change already?
Probably because it's not doing great. The Woolworths and Dan Murphy's are generally busy, and a few of the eateries, but the rest of the centre struggles. There's still a couple of tenancies that have never been filled.

Also agree that completing the Victoria Square masterplan should have been a priority for the council, as with the riverbank masterplan (Hackney to Bowden) for the state government. Both seem to have given up on making any progress.

"still going strong"

In hindsight, having a pawn broker adjacent to a casino was never a good idea and probably highly predatory.
