Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

The article touches on light access, but there's also the issue of services — particularly plumbing — as well as differences in ceiling heights. The sentiment is good, but the reality is very few office buildings are suitable for retrofitting into residential.

[PRO] Re: Festival Plaza Tower 2 | 149m | 38 Levels | Office

A lot of people seem to forget how bleak and boring the original festival plaza was with its painted concrete cubes and the camouflaged car park exhaust stack and the leaky car park. It was even more boring in winter. I loved the Hajek Plaza, but it was compromised from the start (gardens and water...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Agreed, and it's a massive shame that absolutely nothing from that masterplan has been implemented. I'd add to that list, progress on connecting the different parks by grade separating pedestrian links from the roads that cut across, with the eventual goal of being able to circle the entire city wit...

From the JWDT website:
SA1 Tower will be Adelaide's new first height and the only skycrapper in South Australia. It would play an important role in boosting economy and bring enormous oppertunties and job positions to the city and the state.
So it's coming back as a 180m tall drop toilet?

[U/C] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 130m | 39 levels

UPark has sent out emails notifying temporary changes to ramp access in the Central Market carpark starting on the 15th to allow for works.

Re: Forum Etiquette

Unfortunately the level of discourse on these forums is at an all time low. Just about every thread or topic I open up is a slanging match between a minor cohort of the same users over and over again. There was a time when I used to look forward to logging on and reading what news, photos and updat...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

Agreed re: the carpark. Keeping the Premier as far away as possible from any planning decisions at Bowden is essential. It feels like Bowden is starting to make progress and move along again, with proposals for all sites except the one at the front next to Jarmers - any idea what is happening with ...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

Latest Bowden proposal, the design feels sort of post-modern? I don't mind it. https://renewalsa.sa.gov.au/news/affordable-housing-takes-centre-stage-as-showstopping-bowden-legacy-piece-revealed Also, has the office development next to Bowden Station started? I drove past and noticed works happenin...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

What happened to that commercial residential proposal from that Melbourne group that Malaka tried to swat with the Adelaide crowd stupidity? Has that gone under because of his stupidity? The gasworks site by MAB? Still undergoing remediation, but they are apparently ahead of schedule, and could pos...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

Will be great for the area, but this still gets to me: I hear ya! it's annoying that they have blinkers on and believe retail is all about food & coffee. I see they have tried to remedy the inability to locate a chemist in the area by offering free delivery from 2 nearby chemists. I guess that ...

Not sure what the little buildings are. The larger one seems to have too much glass to be a toilet.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Of course Kieran Snape was one of the greenies to vote against it. His position was that a fence was ok, if it was retractable or removable (but also shouldn't be ugly). Not sure where he thought the money to build a retractable fence for a full size soccer pitch was going to come from (never mind ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Veronica Maine and Cue have closed now in Adelaide Central Plaza after moving to Rundle Street. ACP would have been an ideal spot for a two level Zara fronting the mall and would fix the issue with the ever vacant second floor. Commonwealth Bank will also close on 1st March. And following on from t...
