Re: SA Economy

Typically I would rubbish such articles, but as I get older, I also get more wise or cynical. I love this state, but it saddens me that no one else shares this perspective. I’m 33 years old. All my creative, ambitious or entrepreneurial friends have left. Only my melancholic or mediocre friends rem...

[PRO] Re: [PRO] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment

35 levels? Make it 50. Save the 50 for a more prime position. The finish date for this is probably in 2024 sometime so we'll have to be patient. Sent from my SM-J730G using Tapatalk Almost centre of the city..what other prime location? I'm not advocating a 50-storey (150 metre plus) building, but w...

Re: SA Economy

We're not at the stage of needing to desalinate water for irrigation, but it's worth noting that the Northern Adelaide Irrigation Scheme is finally underway and will make enough recycled water available to producers on the plains to hopefully massively boost our food exports. Id say we've been at t...

Gum trees maybe native but they are next to useless for shade. With out increasingly hotter temps not a great idea. Great for the bush but not in the city Not just useless for shade they are also bloody dangerous in strong winds. We need shady trees that can survive heat and are flexible in strong ...

Re: SA Economy

We should be greening the desert like the Israelis. We have plenty of sun to generate energy and water to desalinate...FFS! Is that a good suggestion?

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

This has nothing to do with A political Party. At least Liberal got us a tennis tournament. Rann, weatherall and the labor cronies couldn’t do that in their 12 years in office. In fact we lost our last tournament when they were in power. Even if the upgrade is not what we hoped at least it has got ...

I've flown into London City Airport (Western approach) and can tell you it feels like you are within touching distance of the skyscrapers in Canary Wharf. If this is permissible within one of the bigger cities in the world; Maximum building heights in Adelaide's CBD should be revised upwards immine...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Was hoping this might get better as it progressed... but it's awful. Just awful. This is our main state tennis stadium ffs. Looks more like a local suburban leisure centre constructed by the local council. It may look sh*t currently but this is a stop gap solution. Just imagine the two stands remov...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Actually, only Gate 18 will be dedicated for international flights, the others will remain as dual use gates. Of course they will when there are no international flights and will continue to do so until there is further expansion of T1. These Gates are designated as such because they can be closed ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Does anyone know if the new International area will have its own separate security check point [ie conveyor belt to x-ray bags, body scan] or will they use just the existing area and then you keep walking left, if so it will be quite a walk. The same setup as now will be used, but the entrance for ...

Must add No. 80 now [emoji846]
When we get a decent rendering of at least the eastern facade I'll add it, but it will block out Sofitel :(

[PRO] Re: 80 Currie Street | 137m | 34 levels | Office

Here's a quick mock up of the height (which I've approximated at 179metres AHD) of 80 Currie Street in respect to Sofitel, QT and 75 King William Street. The height of Sofitel here is 112metres, which in actual fact should be 117metres. A small error by the author of the original graphic. The OLS is...

I’m really going to miss that hole. :( It’s a lot nicer than the development about to come. I'm not having a go at you HiTouch , you are entitled to your opinion, but I don't understand the whinging from many of you. What do you expect from a student accommodation building? But I don't think CASA will allow anything above 330m in all of the Australian cities for some unexplained reason.
Perhaps it is for the sake of consistency and uniformity (unlike the road rules you mentioned elsewhere).
