Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Lastly, the planes they’ve ordered (A321XLR) won’t get them to Melbourne or Sydney, perhaps Perth. How about Adelaide with a Christmas Island fuel stop? That would get the required range down to something that lots of aircraft could manage. Then the question is, why not stop in Kuala Lumpur, Singap...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

True. But imo, we should have two indoor arenas, a larger one and a smaller one, and several outdoor courts capable of being used as part of an international tournament. These indoor arena facilities aren't used merely for tennis or basketball or netball, but concerts and other types of events. The...

I haven’t seen the masterplan so have no idea where the roof can be reused, however if you use your imagination what’s already been done can easily be part of a redeveloped stadium. Said it before, they can dig one or two levels down, add an underground carpark if they want or just have a sunken ce...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

probably not the thread for it but im skeptical of such immense and quick growth. this happened with Malaysia and indonesia and that didn't end well. Too many people rushed through pilot school to get the numbers up. Hopefully they learn from past mistakes. It would have more to do with standards a...

this building is truly amazing. Driving past it on the weekend around sunset it was glowing gold. We need more of this style glass. Since it is mirrored glass won't it reflect light onto the Playhouse and the plaza? Cheers Maybe sunrise but not sunset. Doesn't it face north and in low winter sunlig...

Re: New Adelaide public transport hub

I understand that, but my point is they're not suited nor needed in Adelaide. Better, though mostly inessential, would be a system of ground level arcades. I’m not certain it matters whether the connections are “ground level” or “below ground” if they are designed well. The Philadelphia video above...

Re: New Adelaide public transport hub

There is currently undercover/indoor pedestrian access from stepping off the train to the north side of Hindley Street. Ideally, this should continue under Hindley Street through to an underground/indoor bus station on Currie Street that includes a stop for every route that goes through (is that si...

Re: New Adelaide public transport hub

It's a shame we're not preparing to build underground rail soon as there's a perfect opportunity to design a Victoria Square/Central Market station with the upcoming arcade redevelopment. Not saying there should be an underground station in Victoria Square, there are many alternatives available to ...

Re: New Adelaide public transport hub

With the Australia Post site on West Terrace / Grote Street up for sale, Renewal SA should buy out the site and make a mixed use development out of it similar to what they did at Bowden. A provision could be made for a West Terrace station as part of the CBD loop. Perhaps or a tram. Remember that t...

Re: New Adelaide public transport hub

You can always submit your ideas to Infrastructure SA… Bear in mind some of the basic parameters I think you will find they are looking at, and unlikely to change in their planning, include: [...] Just trying to put some reality back into the discussion, to save peoples time. That's the problem we ...

Re: New Adelaide public transport hub

[...] If we build the network so that transfers take place in a few different parts of the city, things can be more conveniently located and the passenger load can be spread out over a wider area. I agree and that's how it should be. No central location is required to cover trains (suburban/regiona...

Re: New Adelaide public transport hub

Andy's concept is interesting but not practical. The idea of having a bus interchange is great but having curved platforms is not. The ARTC loop is very tight. An interchange would've been perfect west of the Morphett Street Bridge (as I envisaged early on the S-A Forum) and if one of the two lines ...
