Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Seems to be illegal according to this article: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/accc-suggests-cabotage/ Not allowed for domestic passengers, but we know that. I’m asking about the definition of domestic passengers: is there still the loophole that there was in 1999? And on the subject of ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

What is the current situation with cabotage? I remember in 1999 I was in Sydney. I was planning to fly to London but had decided to see a bit more of Australia first. Having seen a fair but of NSW (plus the ACT and SE QLD) I was eager to return to Adelaide and enquired about the cost of flying. ‘Twa...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Rev and Mr Smith, I'm merely thinking on a longer timescale than the 30 years that many people limit themselves to. I'm not suggesting a second runway will be built any time soon. Nor bullet trains. But I am presuming continuing high population growth. VinyTapestry849, yes they have a compliant plan...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

There’s no need to extend the crosswind runway. Crosswinds are a problem for small aircraft, but not for anything too big for the existing crosswind runway length. If and when a second parallel runway is needed, it would probably end west of the southern end of IKEA. A few buildings would have to be...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

The mode most suited to the Keswick Creek alignment would be monorail! But no, I’m not suggesting building one, as that isn’t a sensible route.
SDBD would be a much better route for trams.

Is the place they were previously going to put the tram still suitable?

The local suburban bus stop has neither car nor bike parking to reduce that 14 minute walk. It's two housing estates away - the one I live in has a street that looks designed for a bus route, but the bus doesn't use it.
Which street is that? Are buses likely to use it in future?

The tweets are gone, and I want them back!
And when they are, I want it broadcast live here again, so that Croweaters have the same chance of scoring a tweet as Easterners.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Also, costs aren’t the same everywhere. Just because nuclear power is economically viable in some parts of Europe doesn’t mean it would be here. True. A big factor in things being more expensive in Australia, is we bloody import so much. Actually the reverse is the case! Australia was a very expens...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

All of you please note: • We don’t know who blew up Nordstream2. Only Sweden and whoever did it know. • The evidence appears to show the pipe was blown up from the inside, but we don’t know how reliable or trustworthy that evidence is. • ‘Twas an act of economic sabotage not terrorism. There are ins...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

abc, there’s a big difference between the long transmission lines and the shorter distribution lines. The latter are much more vulnerable, but affect far fewer people. More batteries in the metro area would reduce vulnerability to transmission line faults, though as these are rare it probably wouldn...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

I imagine they are not confident to fill a plane only from Adelaide, so they'll go by Perth and pick up extra passengers. If the demand is sufficient from Adelaide then i'm sure we'd get a direct flight quick smart. I expect you’re right, but it still doesn’t make much sense as they don’t have cabo...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Yeh, being a frequent visitor to Vietnam, I was pretty disappointed when I saw the schedule - horrid is correct. I was hoping for a direct flight. I'm guessing that their A321's don't have the range to make it non-stop from ADL to SGN, and they don't believe there enough demand to fill an A330's - ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

abc, your posts seem to have as much spin as anyone else's on this thread. You also have quite poor comprehension: you mistook a post about a fire in a coal mine for an assumption about your opinion on coal seam gas! I notice you posted a map of the coal fired power stations under construction but n...

[PRO] Re: Grange-Holbrooks-East Ave Dog Leg

Agree with sentiment re Holbrooks Road. Growing up in the area, this was meant to be widened into 2x2 50 years ago, (probably under the MATS plan) but ended up loosing momentum, and after removing some of peoples front yards, we ended up with some overly wide verges, and a sort of guesswork for dri...
