[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
No work done to the station other than new retaining walls for garden beds on the southern side - although heard from DTPI shortly before the line closed that they were planning to replace the shelters and install new benches whilst the line was closed. Hopefully that'll come in the near future as ...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport
One of my biggest public transport peeves at the moment isn't so much the transport but the infrastructure: specifically, the Park Tce level crossing in Salisbury. It's a nightmare at the best of times - not helped by a chaotic and extremely uncoordinated local road network, along with the freight ...

Re: News & Discussion: Chinatown
I've been to a lot of Chinatowns around AU and Adelaide's is pretty much exactly the same as the rest of them. I've never noticed anything wrong with the paving/lighting on Moonta St, but Field St just across Gouger St has almost no footpath, it literally is a dirty concrete jungle with no seating.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
I agree with Shuz, ticks a lot of boxes and lays the foundations of an inner-suburban light-rail network, from this there could be extensions to any of the following: North Adel/Prospect, Melb St/Walkerville/Collinswood, Norwood/Magill/Marden. The only problem I can see with this is the Festival Cen...

Re: News & Discussion: Buses
Adelaide doesnt do 'cool' or 'new' very well with public transport signage. The yellow poles will never be changed, the transport department think they're so great that they're at all train and tram stops as well.

[COM] Re: PRO: Oaklands Rail Overpass
If it's such a bottleneck that urgently needs fixing, then why is Google Maps showing mostly green lines on Morphett/Diagonal with a couple of small orange/red lines either side of the train line at 1730 in peak hour?? Adelaide people dont know heavy traffic if they think a 2min delay caused by a co...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
I predict the Frome St bikeway will be removed and the road restored to 4 lanes with the promise by council to someday put in a standard bikelane between traffic and parked cars with only a rumble strip line to protect it after some "community consultation" finds anything more than that is...

MLC doesnt look too bad, but for buildings around Vic Sq, Wakefield House is one I'd like to see either torn down or gutted/refurbished.

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
With such poor train stations, how the heck did Adelaide's trains come 2nd best in AU?? Also with regular strikes, very slow trains, useless hourly/half hourly service frequencies, stalled electrification/upgrade works, hardly any staff, and worst rail patronage in AU.

what slippery pavers? Council recently spent millions ripping them up to lay down nice smooth non-slip asphalt so they could return the speed limit back to 50ghs wrote:There's no crane base on site. Maybe the council might be making some changes to the slippery pavers.

[COM] Re: Rundle Mall Redevelopment | $30m
Rundle Mall was so popular and so great for businesses that no other busy city streets have been turned into pedestrian malls in 40 years, not counting the few side streets like Leigh St, James Place.. A poor effort for the city was once at the forefront of pedestrian malls in Australia.

Could they purposely be letting leases lapse/not offering extensions to either re-develop/negotiate with new retailers? Or could they be looking at different attractions? I was watching this doco recently.. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1701976/ and this quote from the Mayor of Bogota made me think of this school and its 3 parking spaces: "people imagine that carparking is a fundamental right . In most constitutions there is usually the right to housing, education...
