Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

There was a lot of wind last night so the prices were reasonable when the sun went down So when there is not a lot of wind one night and go to this site to see the gas price....it will probably be three times as expensive. Gas companies making as much money as possible before renewables and batterie...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

You cant trust News Corp articles on nuclear power.....they are just like press releases from the Nuclear Fuel Producers Association. They never have any costings.......they never mention the build timeline......they never mention the price of the power when the plant finally opens. The US just rece...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

We don't need to extend train lines in Adelaide......we have kilometre upon kilometre of train lines with no development next to them. Train stations with the nearest houses 500 metres away, train stations with houses kilometres away.... I would not extend the train line beyond Gawler......service a...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy

I too have had dealings with Melbourne transport inspectors.....I found them nothing more than courteous, just people doing a job. On several occasions they have even warned people "to tap on now" saving the inspectors from paperwork and the passenger from a fine. But no you have passenger...

Proposed battery near Mannum has finalised the formalities to be connected to the grid. The battery itself is yet to begin construction. Screenshot_20240228-080435.png Here is yesterday's wholesale spot market for electricity prices in South Australia. Rooftop solar is again the cheapest power source in the SA grid (as it is every day right across this country) If Australia totally abandoned rooftop solar and replaced it with any ot...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Solar panels alone wont make a difference, as many have found out. Most still get whopper bills in the mail. Absolute rubbish......3.5 million households have rooftop solar...average payback time 7-9 years. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/01/how-generous-subsidies-helped-australia-...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Great! Can't wait until the point when it's not just net >100% renewables, but there is basically never any need to fallback on imported fossil power. South Australia does not "rely" on imported fossil fuel.....we have our own.....there is still quite a bit of gas capacity........But when...

Re: Whyalla | Developments & News

How will the EAF be powered? Can it be shut down when renewable energy is not available or do these EAFs need to run 24/7? I presume Gupta has energy supply deal from a "supplier" this may involve gas. Gupta can always go down the BHP road to be supplied by 100% renewables. Their deal inv...
