[PRO] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | ~ 135m | 35 levels

The tower on top serves two purposes it seems.

1. Brings more activity to the area.
2. Those air rights help fund the development.

They've already said the markets aren't going to change, it's the arcade/Coles that is being rebuilt.

Really glad to hear this is still looking to go ahead. A major city centre development like this will be a nice positive in the Covid recovery.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

One interesting thing about the timing of this whole Covid situation is how it means that for many people they won't have been to the airport when the upgrades were half complete. As someone who used to go to the airport every 2-3 months I'm looking forward to when travel is happening again and the ...

From a future proofing perspective I really hope any tunnels are three lane. Any tunnels built will likely be in service for the rest of the century. This. Every video animation I've seen so far has 2 lane tunnels both ways. Concerning. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200809/a8386082a8babb841ab2...

Given the value of the site redevelopment was inevitable, but I for one will be sad to see Southern Cross Arcade go. Outside of Chinatown it's the best value food court in the city (and is always busy as a result)

FB_IMG_1596453885874.jpg (Not my graphic found on facebook) We're told this virus will be with us for a long time. Perhaps there will be more, in fact its almost certain if not guaranteed. We have had measures like social distancing introduced, and that means things like cinemas cant operate. How g...

[U/C] Re: 11 Frome Street | 138m | 37 Levels | Crowne Plaza / Adelaidean | New tallest

Will tehe footpath be "restored" to the original form, or will the "restoration" incorporate the plan to extend the Frome Street separated bike lane? The entrance to the car park and taxi access to the hotel was one of the "complex" things that delayed the construction of the separate bike lanes. U...

To be honest, this would be really big for Adelaide if this was able to bring a major tech company here, especially if it was their head Australian office.
It would, but making a shiny looking precinct isn't what will bring them here.

Re: 250 homes to be demolished for 650 new ones

So let's bulldoze 250 run down homes, that if renovated might actually have some character in favour of building 650 shit looking shoeboxes that in twenty years will look terrible. Great idea. These developments all depend on the quality of the landscaping and public shared treatments. If the housi...

I suspect the reflectivity issue isn't so much the shininess of the glass being used, but that the design as proposed would just be a 20 storey tall mirror.

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

The problem with arguing about preserving the parklands is that they aren't anything special or worthy of preserving in their present form (other then preserving them as is simply because it's the only major continuous "green" belt in Adelaide), not in the sense that the pro-don't touch the parklan...

Such a shame overall that a higher end residential development isn't happening here.
