[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I'm sick of this "I don't want to pay because I don't use it" crap. Yes, country motorists may never use an Adelaide metropolitan freeway, but I'm also not likely to use an area school in the middle of the state, nor drive on the Strzelecki, and I'll probably never get my share of the RAH back in b...

[APP] Re: 73-85 Pirie Street | 89m | 22 Levels | Office

The article also says “Construction of the 83 Pirie tower will kick off once the developer has secured a sufficient pre-commitment.” So now it’s up to the market if/when it happens. These 30,000 sqm new A Grade offices will be competing against other new proposed A grade buildings like Festival Tow...

[APP] Re: 73-85 Pirie Street | 89m | 22 Levels | Office

Article suggests the previous $72m plan by CBUS has been shelved and this $300m 17 level building is now proposed instead. Still reliant upon securing an anchor tenant before proceeding. $300m for 17 levels... Gold plated toilets?? It’s 30,000sqm which is very big by Adelaide standards, that’s the ...

Re: SA Economy

In Sydney there's more demand in two ways: not only are there more people, but also many of them can afford to pay a lot more. Even on the fringes, supply is limited but there's a financial advantage to living in the Sydney area. Perhaps. But surely it's got to the point now that any financial adva...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I think the fairest way to fund the state component of the N-S Motorway upgrade and CBD rail tunnel is a petrol and diesel levy on metropolitan Adelaide motorists (maybe 5c per litre), with funds raised by this levy to go 100% to funding the construction. This would be enshrined by state legislatio...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

What's unclear from today's announcement is how they intend to get city and western traffic into and out of the tunnels. City traffic going south could enter at James Gondon Drive but otherwise there is still going to have to be some property acquisitions for any such "interchanges". If they go wit...

Re: Adelaide Oval news and events

Given Adelaide or Pt. Moresby are currently the two remaining candidates for 2026 Commonwealth games and the Oval is earmarked for use in any successful bid. If Adelaide does succeed and accept do you think they be able to carefully augment/extend the western stand keeping lower level parts intact ...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

The Liberals are proposing to spend only $60 million versus $250 million for the Adelaide Contemporary project. Architectural expectations will have to be correspondingly downgraded. Source? The $60 million figure was in the article that prompted this discussion . Not to mention in the budget last ...

Would bring much joy if they considered the Bjarke Ingels Group and JPE Design Studio Contemporary submission for use as the Indigenous Gallery/Museum. Design is best represented in this video... https://vimeo.com/264263011 The image of the proposed gallery released by the Liberal Party ahead of la...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Although I called this cheap and tacky yesterday, in light of today's news about us securing a major ATP tournament 12 months from now I can see why this is the only real viable option for updating the facility. The canopy does look rather large and hopefully can be re-purposed for a proper new ind...

Does anyone else find it funny that Sturt Highway goes nowhere near Sturt? Would it be wise once its nonstop between Gawler West and Old Noarlunga to rebrand the Northern Connector etc as Sturt Highway or Southern Expressway A while ago (1-2 years maybe) there was discussion on this thread about wh...

Re: What has been your longest commute?

I remember listening to Jodie and Soda on Mix102.3 last year, and they got listeners to phone in with who had the longest commute.

The “winner” was this woman who drove from Port Pirie to Noarlunga EVERY DAY. That’s a 3 hour morning commute and a 3 hour afternoon nightly commute. Hard to beat that!
