Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Hampstead Road is a major freight route - I'm sure Botany Road is not. However, there are many roads in Adelaide that could benefit from this treatment. Having lived in both Sydney and Adelaide, I would say that Sydney is better at managing traffic on major roads. Firstly, there is very little on-s...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

The local community through Thebarton and Mile End has already been mobilised, and at this stage at least there is bipartisan support from Labor and the LNP for a tunnel through the area. Any other option would unleash significant opposition, with or without it going anywhere near the Thebby. In my...

the train should tunnel underneath :)
Won’t ever be done, because it’s not frequent enough to justify the expense.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Are you referring to Waterworld, the outdoor facility not usable year round? Yes. Surely a roof, gym and spa is not worth $50 million. Also why must it be year round and with a roof. Where is the options of roof less? Cos you don’t want it closed for 7 months a year when the weather is too cold to ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

I read today that Sydney has nearly completed its 9km NorthConnex road tunnel (3+3 lanes) for a cost of $3 billion. This tunnel connects its M2 Motorway to the M1 Motorway so that you can now drive from Melbourne to Newcastle without encountering traffic lights .... impressive. We have secured fundi...

I'd like for live GPS tracking of public transport to actually work for more than 1 in 40 vehicles
Really? I find they work 95% of the time.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I can't see what would be gained from a bus tunnel that can't be gained from a commuter mall on Grenfell/Currie? It'd be nice to think shifting transport underground would allow more space for pedestrians above, but you know it'd just be returned to cars. Surface level in Queen Street in Brisbane i...

Re: Create a Weekend Flower and Plants Market in the CBD

If you have ever been to Taipei you probably heard of the 'Jian Guo Weekend Flower Market', it's a plants and flowers market that only works on the weekends, bringing in a lot of plant and flower producers to sell their products. Among the sellers you can also find people who sell pottery and other...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Surely the biggest factor that would increase usage would be building a CBD underground... if they're planning to do that in the next 30 years and planning to include links for the OH and Belair lines, then converting them to trams doesn't make any sense.... Yes Yes and Yes. The CBD underground rai...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Also, an underground CBD rail tunnel would cost billions, no government is going to seriously consider it until rail patronage increases and there's a public push for it. It's decades away at best. Electrification will help, but patronage will not significantly increase until it provides a more use...

Re: Beer Garden

I still can't believe they have been allowed to open their wet markets where it all supposedly started... There should be a worldwide ban on such markets authorised by UN and WHO, with enforceable sanctions against countries who defy these bans. The majority of global pandemics since WW2 have origi...
