Re: U/C: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment

There will be no mall or new specialty shops. I wonder if the owners of the surrounding existing shops will get a makeover once Woolies/ Big W is finished??? Had the GFC not occurred, the redevelopment would have probably been done a couple years back and also look very different to what is actually...

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment

Big W will not be closing or demolished. The facade will be updated with an airlock and glass frontage and a refit of the interior. Work on Big W will commence with the backdock and office areas from around April. The refit of the shop floor of Big W should be sometime around July. Woolies will be s...

The first Big W.... Tamworth in the late 1970s. Shows how little the Cumberland Park store has changed since 1977.

Re: Cnr South Road and Daws Road, Vacant Site. Former Caryar

My bad... I meant Sturt and Diagonal Roads, which was closed in the mid to late 90s.

I nearly forgot about the Sturt/ Morphett Road servo, which was a Mobil. I vaguely recall an Ampol on Sturt Road between Diagonal and Morphett as well.

Re: Cnr South Road and Daws Road, Vacant Site. Former Caryar

But it's not just Shell. Mobil's closed one on Brighton Road. A few have gone from Marion Road, including the one (Liberty I think) that was once Adelaide's biggest. And IIRC two have gone from Darlington. As for Darlington, the first one to close was a Mobil, so I guess they found it pointless to ...

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment

I was talking to my mum tonight about cumberland park and she was very insistent that Woolworths haven't always occupied the supermarket at the site. She remembers Target Supermarket tarding there but I doubt this. Both Woolworths and Big W have occupied the site since construction of the building ...

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment

And for god's sake, I hope that Woolworths and Big W have self-serve checkouts! I can't remember where I was, but I was at a Woolworths, or a Coles, recently that had just been redone and it didn't even have self serve! :S Both store will be having self-service checkouts. Big W will have around 16 ...
