Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Qantas will be operating a scheduled SYD-ADL and ADL-SYD service in November on a Boeing 747-400. https://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/284681/qantas-schedules-boeing-747-domestic-service-in-nw19/ I understand this is due to the Antarctica charter taking place from Adelaide around this t...

Norwood has had a small self-checkout area for quite a while now.
Foodland at Mitcham has them too
And Fulham Gardens.
The Drakes Foodlands at Grange and Old Reynella have them too.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

At the time Jetstar was entertaining the thought of using Edinburgh, it was at the time they were aiming to minimise the use of main airports (similar to how LCC's in Europe use outpost airports to save on costs). All of their Melbourne flights were flying out of Avalon at the time, and they were ho...

Another infrastructure project where the media focus is on 'What about me' rather than the overall benefits of the project  With the compensation Peter Van the Party Man will get for his property, he could easily set up elsewhere. If 14 staff lose their jobs because of the project, that's on h...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

If a Monarto Airport ever, ahem, "took off", and assuming the proposals of an intercity fast train project went ahead (corridor would also replace the current freight line) aligned to SEF with trains to Murray Bridge in an estimated 30-45min, could a Monarto Airport for freight AND passengers repla...

Re: Commonwealth Games in Adelaide

Hopefully October rather than March! Although the idea of adding a Commonwealth Games into the Mad March pile is quite amusing. :D Late October/early November would make sense. Football commitments end at Adelaide Oval in late September (SANFL Grand Final and potentially an AFL Preliminary Final). ...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Will this roof be good for anything once/if the place is bulldozed and a multipurpose arena built in its place? It would be such a waste otherwise. Multipurpose arena is most likely to be built elsewhere. If we are to build an arena over 10,000 seats, it will also require the demolition of Next Gen...

That L'occitaine looks tiny compared to their other stores - I reckon David Jones would have a better range of stock.

Just seen a tweet from Tennis SA CEO.. Big announcement tomorrow for “tennis in SA, make that Australia. An absolute game changer.” Maybe more than just the roof happening? Hence the lack of work so far? Wouldn’t get too excited yet ... might be the announcement of a major long-term sponsorship for...

South Rd will still exist as the b road above/beside the motorway
I wonder if down the track whether some of the more fragmented parts of South Rd will get a new game (for example, the isolated bit in Wingfield between Salisbury Highway and Grand Junction Rd).

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

Some things never really actually change in South Australia - since 1994, Adelaide's public transport has been under various guises including the State Transport Authority (STA), TransAdelaide, the Passenger Transport Board, Adelaide Metro, DPTI and now SAPTA. Meanwhile Adelaide's overall transport...

So the party differentiation I don't think there is any difference. The last claimed Liberal vs Labor difference was Darlington vs T2T and had both started within 12 months anyway. They were just sections needing to be done, nothing to do with Labor or Liberal. If either side claim any project for ...

I agree. I’m also surprised about the lack of decent signage. Apart from saying Atura (which means nothing to most) there seems no signage to tell travellers it’s an actual hotel.
Doesn't seem to be harming the hotel if it's occupancy is this strong.

A backflip, but this time a good one. Looks like we're back to a standard intersection for the proposed upgrade.

"In five year’s time, it’s quite likely that trams won’t be the best option – that there’s emerging technology in trackless, autonomous, electric, and every variation thereof."
