[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I understand the blandness of the screens Southern Expressway screens makes them easier to mass produce and presumably keeps them lighter. And for an older stretch like the Southern Expressway with reasonably plain bridge designs at arguably underwhelming road crossings it makes sense. But are the ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Ironically it was a fire on a Gawler bound red hen in the 90's that finally forced the government to retire the remaining Red hen fleet. That fire was more serious, with passengers assisting operating the fire extinguishers.

Focus moves to Victoria Square’s southern space 26 September 2019, The Advertiser AN upgrade of Victoria Square’s southern half will be revisited, in the hope the entire area does not look incomplete from outer space in the future. It comes as some Adelaide City councillors questioned whether it sh...

A question for those who know about such things: Why do the proposed North-South Corridor tunnels have to follow the existing road route of South Road? Is there a possibility they could take a shorter, more direct route underground, then have appropriate exits at existing roadways? What is the lega...

Good to see the media is still trying to whip up hysteria adding the emotive Thenarton Thestre destruction. Tunnels or not, theThebarton Theatre does not need, nor will be destroyed. What I read into this , is that the remainder will still be a combination, even though the article tries to paint a p...

everything was drip fed to us. There is an up-side to being drip-fed. It should lower the risk by breaking the project up into more manageable sections. DPTI is getting experienced at executing billion dollar upgrades now, but imagine if the first substantial project (superway) was a $5 billion dol...

This, and the SA Water building on the opposite side of the square are two of the greatest waste of prime CBD real estate in the last decade. Unlike Melbourne where the prime sites were quarantined from developement until a proposal of adequate landmark design and proportion were proposed.

My understanding is that the compensation offered is based on an average price for the suburb for an equivalent property. As there is no way domestic properties on this corridor are anywhere near the average price for the given suburb, they are already on a good wicket. If however they need to throw...

Aside from some of the new development, Brisbane's architecture leave much to be desired. Lots of clinical, dated white boxes. THe buildings along the feel like a bit of a dogs breakfeast TBH. I wouldn't mind a version of this for ADL but with more cohesion. Lots of clinical white boxes? Not sure B...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Just on our rolled-gold Botanic Garden extension, the planted medians have already become overgrown with metre-high thistles. Disappointing if true, but not surprising in Adelaide. Probably arguing over who is responsible to maintain it... or it's been too wet/hot/dry/cold.. It's these small things...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Tram extensions should not depend on Commonwealth games to attract funding. IA have repeatedly said they will look at funding for light rail if the state can come up with a workable plan. Apart from some vague wishy washy concepts from the former government, no one has presented a plan including spe...

Why hasn't anyone complained about the addition of the Roof Climb business to Adelaide Oval? They had to make changes to the roof's of the stands for it you know. The roof climb is a unique attraction. It is worthy of putting on adverts for the state. The restaurant is a unique offer, worthy of pos...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Have to say I'm really becoming disillusioned with this state government as far as transport is concerned. I like the idea of the bus to rail hubs, but this seems more of a cost cutting exercise than any attempt to upgrade and modernise overall operations and facilities. I also get the "vibe" even f...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

Whether or not one agrees with this development (in my case, I don't agree with it), there is something very concerning about the severe lack of public consultation over these such developments that are built on publicly owned land. The same goes for the Festival Plaza, O-RAH site and so forth... E...
