[COM] Re: South Rd Upgrades - News & construction ONLY | U/C: Supe
Even if they made it 100km/h, that doesn't necessarily mean 100km/h anyway. Look at Melbourne's Freeways during peak hour. It's bumper to bumper and 60km/h if you're lucky. But yes, South Road would most likely be a bit of a nightmare at 60km/h. But I also cannot see a road with trenches, tunnels an...

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
I don't think that would help to be honest. Although much more costly, (and will still allow someone to follow a bus directly on), a boom gate could be installed at the start, and each bus be installed with a switch to activate, and at least it will greatly reduce the possibility for people to "...

Re: #Transport Projects
I've never driven down there in peak hour, but even at about 2-3PM (eastbound), it's usually enough of a line that I feel it's un-justifiable. There are usually only about 2-4 buses along the whole length, and generally, they're pulled over to pick up/drop off. I notice a lot of people drive through...

[COM] Re: South Rd Upgrades - News & construction ONLY | U/C: Supe
I'm sorry for taking the conversation so off-topic, I'll try not to let it happen again. I really didn't expect that much discussion from it all though. Property acquisition has already occurred around Ridleyton/Croydon, to what extent I don't know, but I assume it is continuing along sections of So...

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
I really don't understand how people continue drive onto this! It makes me laugh everytime... Granted that if travelling 60 at the Mann Road entrance, it would be awfully hard to pull the sharp turn to use the exit lane right after the entrance. But I'm sure there's sufficient distance to stop the c...

[COM] Re: South Rd Upgrades - News & construction ONLY | U/C: Supe
There seems to be a tendency to view the structure (of a project) as its total capital cost. People often forget that part of the $900 something million dollars to build this also includes hiring machinery and equipment to put it into place, employing hundreds of construction workers, expenses to e...

Ok, I do see where you're coming from Amused, and I guess I'll have to believe that it is the most cost effective option available that provides the necessary function, but just looking at it..it looks so extreme and overpriced. It's just hard to accept.. Also, looking at the July 6 Nearmap photo, a...

Re: News: Adelaide City Council
Now this something I completely agree with the council. The Adelaide CBD is overdue for 40km/h speed limits. Adelaide's council wants 40km/h speed limit in CBD streets http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/adelaides-council-wants-40kmh-speed-limit-in-cbd-streets/story-e6frea83-12264611...

Re: Churchill Road expansion to 4 lanes
I would say that Torrens>Regency Road would be a little unneccessary now, given that they have done all their recent kerb and footpath work, as well as the painted medians now removing right-turn-conflicts. 2+2 lanes would be nice, but difficult. As for Regency>Grand Junction, I am very happy to see...

Re: First tolled tunnel -- where should it go?
I love the idea of the tollway tunnel from the Superway, to James Cogdon Drvie, as well as upgrading the JCD intersections with Sir Donald Bradman Drive and South Road to keep this free flowing onto South Road, as well as passing over/under Richmond Road. Then remove the intersection at Barwell/Ever...

As part of the Expressway duplication, and the New Marion Rd entry/Exit point. The water main that runs to the large tank on the corner of Marion & South Rds, needs to be shifted. (It was also moved for the Seacombe Rd bridge extension to be built) Two cranes were onsite today lifting sections ...

Re: Vision - Britannia Roundabout
Here's a possible solution of the Brittannia Roundabout, which saves existing trees and will barely (if at all) alter the Clipsal Track. Apologies for quality, I did not have Photoshop installed at the time. And additionally to caption box, the right roundabout would probably be 2 lanes turning righ...

Thanks for the photos Xaragmata. It's really starting to take shape aroung GJR! Looking good! I would have thought a tunnel would be more financially viable, and safer (removing 18m drop). This project ($842M & 4.8km -2.8km Elevated) is averages $175,000 per metre, obviously costing more in elev...

[COM] Re: #U/C: Southern Expressway duplication | $445m | 22km
There were a heap of trucks travelling along South Road over the weekend loaded with concrete Clipsal barriers. I can only assume that these were being taken to the Expressway to add to those already placed. Yes, there are more barriers just south of Beach Road, and they've further realigned the ro...

Re: Proposed: Costco - Cnr Kings & Main North Rd
I'd be interested to know where their locations they are considering down south are. I cannot think of anywhere of this necessary size.. The plan is to start selling the apartments and penthouses on the building's upper levels next year. Talks have also begun to secure a major European retailer. My ...
