[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
The way I read it, $1.8billion was the original figure. They're now proposing a more effective solution for $620million. This needs to be done, as well as your proposals Omada. Thanks Rhino for the correction, I'm glad they at least scaled it back. Would be nice if the money saved from the revised ...

You can only do this from Marion Road. You cannot (legally) turn left on to the expressway from north bound South road.neoballmon wrote:Heading north on both Marion and South roads allow turning onto the expressway southbound.

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Always wondered why there are no entries now or planned for North bound traffic on South or Marion rds to enter the expressway to head south. Surely would be very easy for South Rd in this new plan? Did you miss that the duplication added this to Marion road? Given that, there probably isn't much n...

Funeral parlour is on the Eastern side isn't it? And I don't recall them being so close to Port Road that they're being acquired for that. Did they just want out from the construction activity? I believe "how good is he" is talking about Distinctive Funerals. They are at 104 South road wh...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
When I got in the car this morning, I heard the tail end of the news, and all I heard was about the project saving 10 minutes travel time and commencing construction in 2015. I know Darlington's time saving wasn't this great, but was what I heard for Torrens to Torrens or a new project completely? ...

I agree it could be done better, but that traffic will be slightly benefited. In current morning peak, these people are getting to the expressway and stopping for lights, which the expressway usually has priority over and South road traffic has to wait. With the upgrade, only traffic from Sturt, Fl...

I'm not sure when this was put up - but have people seen this regarding the Darlington project? http://www.infrastructure.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/131628/Darlington_Stakeholder_Brochure.pdf This is the first time I've seen what they are proposing for the northern end of the project. I think Henwii's picture was just to show an example of the "road block thingos", not the actual ones around the bridge. Whilst the crossing is complete and usable, the finishing touches are still being done. The lighting and water feature have only just been completed and they are still w...

[COM] Re: UC: Torrens Footbridge | $40m
There is a letter to the Editor in today's Advertiser from Tom Koutsantonis. He points out that the Reiverbank footbridge is in fact 255 metres long, not 150, which makes the bridge only $160K per linear metre which is 36% cheaper than the $250K/m of the Helix Bridge. He also states: The "super...

Re: Cnr South Road and Daws Road, Vacant Site. Former Caryar
There were actually around 7 services stations at Darlington. 5 adjacent to each other and the other 2 were behind the Flagstaff Hotel. The first two to close were the Old King Neptune site (now a McDonalds) and one in the location where Super Cheap Auto is. These were followed by the BP that was b...

Re: Seaton Park Drive In
Oh fair enough. I didn't even know there was one in/around Marion. Where abouts was this? Or is it just the one that was on the corner of Oaklands and Morphett Roads, where the bus depot is now located? Yes, I also think you are confusing it with the Marion Metro Twin. I don't recall Starline havin...

Re: APP: Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment
I remember Target Supermarkets though - there was even one at Marion. From memory, they were sold off when Myer ran into financial difficulties in the 80's (before they merged with Coles) and the SA stores (I think there were 6?) were bought by Independent Grocers & rebranded Arrow. Not sure wh...

Re: Seaton Park Drive In
I would guess that the Oaklands Rd 'twin' closed in the late 90s. I remember seeing 'Broken Arrow' there in 1996 and I reckon it was still open for a few years after that. Yes, it would around that time. I lived OS from '93 to 2000 and it definitely closed in that time. Same goes for Blueline at We...

Re: Seaton Park Drive In
Did there use to be a drive in theatre where the housing development on Oaklands road is(next to bus depot)? Yes there did, I remember it very well. It was known as the Metro Twin - twin because there was actually two screens that would show different movies. The entrance was in the SW corner off O...
