[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Ha! I found your article dated 2011 with a heading of Mega Aspirations! It was never even started. See below article in 2017.. https://www.tunneltalk.com/Russia-12Dec2017-Road-tunnel-under-the-Neva-in-St-Petersburg.php Construction of the supersized Orlovsky TBM bored tunnel under the Neva was appro...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Yes 3 lanes can be done with one boring machine but my point is 6 lanes can’t. Therefore they will need to use 2 boring machines to do 6 lanes (ie. 3 lanes in each direction). So obviously using 2 TBMs will be a lot more expensive than using 1 TBM for 2 x 2 lanes. Further they could potentially comp...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

While I totally agree after looking into tunnel boring machines, Wiki says “Tunnel diameters can range from one metre (3.3 ft) to 17.6 metres (58 ft) to date.“ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunnel_boring_machine I wonder if that’s the reason for 2 lanes (x 2)? For say 6 lanes x 3m width (plus say ...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments

Yes Masters tried on this site to get approval in 2011 and was rejected. Bunnings themselves tried in 2016 -2018 and also got rejected. I am not sure if they had to change plans, buy more land (for say parking) or it had something to do with a change in zoning, planning or Govt.? Against that Mitre ...

This site has already been sold 18 months ago to a property trust/developer - Cromwell Property Group. THU 14 DEC 17 Australian Unity's $1.3 billion unlisted property trust has sold an Adelaide private hospital for nearly $10 million more than its current value. Australian Unity’s Healthcare Propert...

ml69, just as a thought The Queen Victoria Hospital was renovated into apartments [although I doubt this would ever happen here]. I also think a lack of car parking here is a big issue here if they ever tried to re-purpose/renovate the site rather than just demo it.

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Anyone know approx how many properties would be need to be acquired [or have a guess at the approx value] for a trench option for the 10.2km? Obviously there are many big properties/commercial businesses but based on say an average 700-800 sqm land and say $500k for a home and $1m for a commercial p...

No word/plans yet on what will be happening to the Wakefield hospital when Calvary move out in the coming months. Does anyone here know more? The big question is will Cromwell demo it for a big new development or just renovate it (and if so, for what?) It’s a big 8,700 sqm site...

Btw, I had for the first time a driver with two phones - one for UBER and one for OLA. I guess a bit like playing the stock market, trying to maximise his return to earn the best or most fares.

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

To me it seems as they (Liberal State Govt) just make it up as they go. I guess it has helped they won & have been awarded Fed Govt $$ for the National space agency etc Btw, I still don’t understand why the JV with C&G as chosen by the previous Labour Govt was then re-negged upon? I am pretty sure t...

I think the blank Western concrete wall def. needs a mural (like shown at Bowden, Pt Adelaide, wheat silos etc.) I think the DAC should make it mandatory for all new/similar buildings for planning consent. Especially this one as the tallest & newest residential building in SA.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Just wondering if this would mean the definite end to the ability to ever bring back horse racing (even if a once off event every year)? I know they still do the polo there. This is an article below from 5 years ago where the Govt (Labour/Leon Bignell) was open to considering it & will we ever see a...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

While I understand the parklands debate the long standing money-pit problems of the Aquatic Centre have never been solved by anyone/anything else prior either. I think a business that is losing & costing the ratepayers $800k pa (and growing) is an issue that has been ignored. The other issue is the ...
