Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

I think while the idea has merits it would be very hard for the council to justify or get a return on the $34m they spent on the land plus the cost to build (the last Aquatic centre cost $100m to build at Marion). Further the current one looses money every year. Similarly the Govt could buy out Next...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

It could work permanently for basketball. It has the tram at its doorstep and would allow the Govt to focus on (and save for) a rectangular stadium, which I think would be at least 5 -10 years away.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

I agree. Plus with both their own U-park (plus Targets) they will never close it. The best outcome may be during summer/spring to do what they do over Fringe - close it from Frome St to East Tce only on Fri night, Sat & Sun.

Ok that’s good. So is that Govt owned land now? If so I wonder why it wasn’t built wider/properly in the first place? I mean using another 5m would have been enough.

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

I agree. It was poor that the T2T near the cemetery/River Torrens goes from 3 lanes to 2 and back to 3. With the Pym St exit/entrance they should hurry up and use the vacant land they own as well as demolish as much as allowable to widen the road (even if it’s only one side) well before they build t...

Re: Glenelg | Developments & News

I know Marshall made it an election policy to contribute the first $20m to the major re-development of the jetty (potential Hotel, Marine centre, blah blah blah). Nothing more has been said..anyone know anything?

I think they are doing the feasibility on tunnels now. I am pretty sure that Marshall said they will make a decision by the end of the year what will be the plan for the final 10.5km.

[PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

Yes I’m surprised when they did Newport Quays it wasn’t done & they are doing it for Dock One with this new station/extension. Now with Fletchers Slip, Cedar Woods’ new 500 home development nearby I think it’s needed. Btw, do you think this will fall under the suburb name Newport?

[PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

I agree. I think though it needs to extend to St Vincent St, even if they need to demolish some of the Magistrates Court Building. One day they could link a tram connecting from here (St Vincent St) over the Nelson St bridge & down Semaphore Rd to the beach.

Re: News & Developments: Prospect

Can I ask where the stop is? If it was moved closer to the adjacent residential development it may be more appropriate. They should create a new entry between both the residential Prospect 1838 & Kaufland developments and upgrade the train stop with links from both sides.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Yes I agree & more tongue in cheek as reference to the AO. What does the forum expect would be the cost to demolish & build a new centre plus the ovals etc? Should it incorporate an Aquatic centre? The last one (at Marion) cost $100m.

Maybe they will build the campus/where students stay at 200 North Tce with the cooking school nearby at Lot14?

[PRO] Re: Playford Ice Arena

So the council has withdrawn but what about the other investors, couldn’t they proceed?
Maybe they could build one for half the cost proposed ie $17.5m vs $35m?
