Yes Nort thats my only thought for the reason the numbers may seem high is if they include significant resumptions of properties/businesses near the intersections? ie Payout figures to businesses & owners forced to move.

The below may also be the reason for the project stalling.... Prospect vows to fight state’s ‘chainsaw massacre’ of its trees Prospect is ready for war. The State Government wants to remove hundreds of trees the community planted decades ago for a rail project — but it’s facing a huge public backlas...

[PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

The nitty gritty needs to come out and all has to be fully transparent. If a contract was signed how can this Govt terminate it? Who costed the project at $16m and what has now caused it to blow out 250%? Is the company that was awarded the contract now getting paid out [obviously a reduced amount] ...

Maybe not so much Marshall who is a big Port Adelaide supporter, but I think his Lib party know they are never going to win Pt Adelaide even if they spend millions, so why even try. Hopefully some other good news will come. ....

Didn't the former Labour Govt sign a contract for it to be built? If so, how can it just be cancelled? So was there no set price in the contract? Or was it under-estimated and by whom? If so, shouldn't they be liable? I get that its all subject to final design etc etc but how can they be out by so m...

This will be an incredibly tough site to build on...I know people that looked at it and even simple things like where to put the lift core, where to put the crane, receive deliveries [ie from semi trailers for tilt up panels], store equipment etc were all very challenging. I would also expect all th...

Hopefully they are working on the design and approval to extend it the 100m to the corner of St Vincent St, even if they need to demolish some of the Courts Buildings.

All very valid points. In regards to considering the HQ site and all the associated land needed, the land cost would be a min. of $70m - $100m [based on $10,000 sqm], while this land adjacent the NRAH is free for the Govt and thus us as taxpayers. Would that influence your thoughts?

Re: SA Economy

It’s good Marshall is investing heavily in infrastructure in the budget. If as he says, the interest rate is only 1.66% its worth borrowing and makes sense to invest in projects that earn more than they cost. While our debt has gone to $21bn I still think he could have gone even more gang busters on...

Ha! I found your article dated 2011 with a heading of Mega Aspirations! It was never even started. See below article in 2017.. https://www.tunneltalk.com/Russia-12Dec2017-Road-tunnel-under-the-Neva-in-St-Petersburg.php Construction of the supersized Orlovsky TBM bored tunnel under the Neva was appro...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Yes 3 lanes can be done with one boring machine but my point is 6 lanes can’t. Therefore they will need to use 2 boring machines to do 6 lanes (ie. 3 lanes in each direction). So obviously using 2 TBMs will be a lot more expensive than using 1 TBM for 2 x 2 lanes. Further they could potentially comp...

While I totally agree after looking into tunnel boring machines, Wiki says “Tunnel diameters can range from one metre (3.3 ft) to 17.6 metres (58 ft) to date.“ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunnel_boring_machine I wonder if that’s the reason for 2 lanes (x 2)? For say 6 lanes x 3m width (plus say ...

Yes Masters tried on this site to get approval in 2011 and was rejected. Bunnings themselves tried in 2016 -2018 and also got rejected. I am not sure if they had to change plans, buy more land (for say parking) or it had something to do with a change in zoning, planning or Govt.? Against that Mitre ...
