[COM] Re: Victoria Square Upgrade - $24m

I agree and I don’t know why they need 6 years to complete a paltry $15m development (and for just 25% of it)? I mean Gawler Place cost the council almost as much.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

I agree/accept that the one you are referring isn't for 88 O'Connell but really believe a similar concept could work very well there. With North Adelaide I would expect the council to release all the different proposals for community consultation. I would expect proposals from at least 2-3 different...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Possibly but I think the car parking there would be an issue [and yes I know there is a carpark in Gawler Place but ideally it should form part of any big high end development]. I think 88 O'Connell would work with plenty of secure underground parking and high end retail above [plus possibly hotel, ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Ben, the purpose built luxury site sounds a great idea.. can you elaborate where it may be and is 88 O' Connell St a possibility? With the North Tce, Gallerie site etc what is confusing is the Liberals are putting the Le Cordon Bleu at Lot 14. Does anyone know if its a commercial lease or govt/taxpa...

[U/C] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel

While good in theory the problem [even in hindsight] is that the Intercontinental, Riverside Centre & the Convention centre [Govt] are all owned and/or leased by separate parties ie not Skycity. Possibly Lot 14 could have worked but too late now.

I know it’s unlikely but could these poles be acting/being used as a barrier to stop any cars flipping (say after an accident at the intersection) and falling onto the expressway below?

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

While all valid points what has been conveniently left out is the fact that the AO re-development cost $450m -$525m while the Perth stadium cost $1.6 BILLION. I mean if they spent triple as much, I am sure AO would also be much better! As for bang for your buck, for a very rough comparison if you sl...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I agree but politicians often go with popular vote winning decisions. There is the argument of say winning a Commonwealth games & the marketing/tourism exposure. Plus the legacy infrastructure (ie stadiums etc) that remain for the future generations may influence our ability to create/attract future...

Only one building is left to demo (cnr South/Regency Rd.) Heard a Govt deal is close on the Croydon Kings new home ground. I wonder where all the site offices etc will be set up, maybe around & using the existing clubrooms?

[U/C] Re: Brickworks Redevelopment | $70m

Shops like the newsagency, butcher, some cafes have either struggled or closed altogether. I think the Big Ws footprint is probably too big and its owner [Woolworths] could get a better return if reduced in size and a BWS/Dan Murphys etc added instead. Interesting if Aldi wants to move in as they ne...

[U/C] Re: Brickworks Redevelopment | $70m

There was an article saying the Council is putting the old brickworks area ie under the Kiln etc on the market again (after many years). Also heard a rumour that Aldi could be looking at going where Dan Murphy’s is and Big W could be cut up for specialty including a BWS (or Dan Murphy’s?) inside the...

[U/C] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel

I agree, what is strange is only this month the company [SkyCity] told investors for plans for "potentially a second hotel in Adelaide over time". Why wouldn't they just build the current one higher? Also where would they put a second hotel, unless it was part of the Walker proposal to get a hotel f...

I think as construction is also their business [ie builder not just developer] makes them more efficient. I also take my hat off that they also are going ahead with what appears no tenant pre-commitment [for the offices].

The photo also makes me think if they ever will fulfil the plans to complete Victoria Square .... I am surprised it has been forgotten about with no council or other stakeholder discussion for many years.

My only guess is they could be inspection points and possibly to access services ie drains & accessing blocked stormwater pipes?
