[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I agee SRW and it’s looks like its going to be a congested area let alone adding another tower. The stakeholders have had years to agree and did sign off on the plan so I am wondering why didn’t they make their suggestions or any changes at the start? Also with multiple neighbouring stakeholders I ...

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I'm not saying the concept design for the square is by any means exceptional, or that it can't be improved, but consider me really bloody sceptical of Walker Group's intent here. It strikes me as an exercise of shifting goal posts and passing bucks -- specifically, the supposed 'costs blowouts', is...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

The former Optus building on the corner of King William & Pultney is getting a fresh coat. Looked like they were changing from the faded mustard blending into off white, to just white. When you say 'fresh coat'... I'm of the understanding that this building is a glazed cladding, please tell me they...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

True. But imo, we should have two indoor arenas, a larger one and a smaller one, and several outdoor courts capable of being used as part of an international tournament. These indoor arena facilities aren't used merely for tennis or basketball or netball, but concerts and other types of events. Acr...

[PRO] Re: Goodwood/Springbank/Daws Road Intersection

There's no reason Peter Van couldn't wrangle a deal with the government to relocate to a new building on the corner next to the high school where the existing road will be removed. Might work out cheaper for the government. Would be a shame to lose the green space though. How about the area where t...

[PRO] Re: Goodwood/Springbank/Daws Road Intersection

That petrol station isn't very old (maybe 5 years?). Oh well - stupid decision allowing it to be built there. Good riddance. Pleased that Bedford isn't being touched. Hopefully Peter Van relocates close by. There's no reason Peter Van couldn't wrangle a deal with the government to relocate to a new...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

All your points are valid. I just think we should embrace this upgrade and enjoy having proper Tennis back in our fair City. The upgrade is only half finished. Can't we at least judge it once it is finished and the tournament has been played out. Just because it is not the upgrade we first wished f...

[VIS] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

I actually think the upgrade looks great. I am excited for this venue. Both for tennis and concerts etc. While the exterior may look great, as far as viewing tennis on centre court, the ends of the square on stands are virtually useless. Not only will at least one end be a long way from the Court i...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

The Australia Post site was listed for sale yesterday. At just under 18,000 sqm it is the largest CBD site to be offered to the market. This is a massive opportunity for Adelaide. Hopefully there is some grand thinking by whoever the purchaser ends up being. Interesting - only yesterday an article ...

Unless I missed an earlier announcement? It was announced yesterday by Adelaide Airport on their Facebook that the Vickers Vimy will be relocated from its longterm carpark into the new terminal extension, pictured below. Fantastic outcome!

[COM] Re: 1 King William St | Facade Upgrade | $12m

Cladding that tower was an awful decision. 1 King William was once one of Adelaide's most attractive and timeless towers. The plasticy orange and grey cladding and random slanty bits just looks terrible. The original stone was crumbing and in danger of falling on pedestrians, so they had to clad ov...

As we’re talking about how/when this development reaches the top, this is what the top is supposed to look like.
