Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

So let me get this straight, Mount Barker has a population of 40,000 and the state government have rebuked every suggestion of an electrified rail service to the centre, meanwhile Kouts is talking out of his arse about a possible rail service to Riverlea, so long as the population of the area grows ...

[U/C] Re: 145-159 King William Street (GPO) | 61m | 16 Levels | Hotel

I wonder, are they going to replace that awful tin shed roof of the GPO with glass or something that looks better... Where in the world is replacing a roof with glass common practise? No doubt they will replace the iron roof with a new colour bond roof but give them time. Grand Palais in Paris has ...

Signage went up today.
I wish I could resurface all of the criticism on here of this particular build when it was first proposed a few years ago... This is quite the little gem for this pocket of the city.

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million

IMO, this is the area I feel they should be building a concert hall, when the Adelaide Festival had their pop up venue in this space, it flowed really nicely with the architecture of the Festival Centre. I think a building slotted between the two white domes would really add to the centre and could ...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Apparently 2024 is some kind of reverse year. Adelaide City Council has committed to opposing all development in the parklands for 5 years, and the Adelaide Park Lands Association calling that unrealistic and wanting sporting facilities and clubrooms upgraded. Of course they do, the APA don't actua...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

They're idiots. The quest to 'modernise' it has turned the Myer Centre facade into generic piece of crap. However, I remain grateful that Rundle Mall as a whole is so much better-looking and lively than it was years ago. Completely disagree. There’s nothing lovely about the current Rundle Mall. The...

Re: News & Discussion : New Restaurants, Bars & Night Clubs

There’s a lot more under the surface of these announcements. Super Bueno is owed by Penny Hospitality who are doing just fine; they own General Havelock, Paper Tiger (formerly Two Pot Screamer), Joe’s Henley Beach and West Oak; whilst running the bars at Hindley street Music Hall and Lion Arts. I im...

Why the blank wall for the building’s core, surely at this height they could follow suit with what’s done elsewhere and glaze the building all around.

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million

I visited Melbourne last week, the first time since February. Having previously lived there almost a decade ago for five years, I was shocked at how overcrowded, dirty and soulless it has become. Any appeal I once had for living there has certainly gone. Of course, Melbourne has always been a bit gr...

[VIS] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital

Surely the car park could have been either buried or partially buried on its current porposed site or under the hospital itself? An eight storey block takes away from any design merits they are hoping to achieve with the facade of this new hospital…

According to Principal’s Project Requirements tower 2 is planned to be a 35-storey building
It better be taller then its stunted growth counterpart next door. Festival tower 1 is a disappointment in height.
I’m so glad that you’re not a town planner…

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Calibre opened on Rundle Street today moving from Adelaide Central Plaza. Strange timing coming into Christmas and the massive traffic next door Louis Vuitton is getting. The decision to move back to Rundle Street must be getting questioned you'd think, unless they were kicked out as part of the po...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport doesn't yet have a rail connection and it's one of the largest airports in the country... There has been talk of moving the airport up north for years, be that Edinburgh RAAF base or the land parcel in Wingfield above the Port River Expressway, Ultimately Adelaide is...
