Great shot cmet. This is one of the few buildings in Adelaide that will actually look better on a cloudy day.

Great picture there Ben. Was it taken from Kodo? Lot of different textures surrounding the GPO. Done right the future development of the GPO site should bring it all together.

The reflective finish will also add more dimension to the precinct too with a bit of luck (or intentional design).

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The interstate-based developer doesn't give two sh*ts about the Port or SA, they just want to make a profit and without a strong guiding hand by a public-interest authority sh*t is all we will get. Thankfully the woolsheds are still banked for when we get are act together and develop a proper maste...

Does anyone work in the Port area? I was talking to some business owners who said they knew this had be cancelled last year? Apparently issues with hooking up bus services and the desire of the council to have the bus services integrated was causing issues (not in a bad way just in getting it to wo...

SCG is similar, because Fox Studios (formerly the showground) blocks entry/exit from the whole south and eastern flank. In our case there are only tennis courts and a golf course on the Western flank, and most people on exit are heading south over the bridge or east towards KW St. Agree it’s very fr...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Interesting that LeFevre Peninsula and light rail and merit all appear in the same sentence. Is there a glimmer of hope there?

The SACA board are really on board, spruiking the development and its ‘stunning’ (their words) plans to its members. Stunning as the plans may be the clunky design shown in the renders is just so disappointing looking more like a mediocre block of flats tacked on as an afterthought than an architect...

[PRO] Re: [PRO] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

On the thoughts of a tram running just Port Adelaide to Semaphore, rather than connected to the rest of the network: I've for a while advocated for a much more significant Port Dock station that incorporates a new northern entrance (and upgrade) of the National Railway Museum over the area that is ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Been sitting on this thought experiment for a long while now, the Glanville carpark closure and Port Dock delay has pushed me forward. Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. Regardless of whether the Port Dock spur goes ahead or not, I think an interesting way to help revitalise local busin...

How cost effective is storing concrete sleepers he claims are for Brighton right at the Port Spur site, which is not an active railyard? Does Knoll think we’re all idiots? There is a smelly lack of transparency happening which FOI will no doubt reveal. Will the $40 million detailed costing (nice rou...

It was only a few weeks ago that PTPA held a widely publicised public information event on this project at the neighbouring Railway Museum. All gung ho sausage sizzle train rides kids activities the works. Suddenly it’s been pulled because they’ve only just discovered it’s too expensive? Really? The...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Maybe not so much Marshall who is a big Port Adelaide supporter, but I think his Lib party know they are never going to win Pt Adelaide even if they spend millions, so why even try. Hopefully some other good news will come. .... Not confident about any good news from this crowd. Local bus services ...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The Marshall government’s abandonment of Port Adelaide reaches new depths as they’ve now put the Port Dock spur line on ice, following their pulling of funding for the Failie and the ‘public interest” trashing of Heritage listing for Shed 26.

I remember being impressed with that render in 2014, and avidly watching the water feature and staircase being built and landscaped, but there were alarm bells going off as it progressed. The choice of plantings in this area was totally inept right from the start. Why plant eucalypts directly in fro...
