Re: 2019 Footy Express

Isn’t there a surcharge for the Footy Express built into all Power @ Crows ticketed members’ fees, most of which were paid up in 2018?

Pretty hard to claw that back if they cancelled the Express.

See if they try it on next year.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I asked the PTPA a few weeks back if they’d provide an update on how the ‘design stage’ was progressing but no response and no update on their site. Considering the local interest in this project it’s pretty discourteous and very unlikely to be completed by Q1 2019. (March 31) when there is no sign ...

[APP] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use

From "Your Say" (Adelaide City Council newsletter) "Eighty Eight O'Connell Submissions for the Expression of Interest (EOI) phase for the development of the site closed on 30 November. Council is pleased that a number of submissions were lodged, indicating strong interest from a range of potential l...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I don't really understand what isn't clear here? SMA wanted to build a hotel on site, the State Government agreed and gave them funding, that is completely crystal clear. the whole secrative part is a bit laughable though, why would the SMA tell people what it wants to do before it has things appro...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I think the figures are the AO/the stadium needs $2m a year for on-going maintenance costs [& rising every year]. Based on say 22 days for AFL games, 7 days for Strikers home games, 1 day for A league add say 22 days for everything else - test/limited overs cricket/concerts/events/any finals so say...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

I agree with all said except with the Shed 26 point. There are costings of $10m to remove asbestos/restore the shed etc and the developer has stopped and is open to community proposals etc ie put up the money and we will keep it and/or show us how it can be viable. Its now a case of those that are ...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Well said Patrick_27. I’ve long dreamed of the Maritime Museum taking over Shed 1 (Fisherman’s Wharf) as well as the Customs House, Institute Building, Telegraph Station (currently empty pigeon toilets), and the vacant dock space next to the lighthouse, and building a massive state of the art mariti...

You do have to laugh at this architectural merit stuff.

It's an ok sports stadium.
Or you could laugh at a very less than ordinary hotel hanging off the front of your ok sports stadium. Thing is, it’s not that funny.

It’s a miracle that the Formby drinking fountain at the front of these buildings survived the bureaucratic vandalism of the 60s. A replica stands on site and the original is in the Port Adelaide Historical Society Museum at Peterhead. The original base of Mintaro slate and Macclesfield marble is sti...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The Odeon Star cinema is just up the road in Semaphore, and Arndale and West Lakes are an easy drive...... Unfortunately I don't see a great chance of new cinemas in the Port unless there is a huge increase in population and that's a pity because movie theatres would improve the Port as a "destinat...

Well, I'm going against the general consensus here, i like it. I think the proposal compliments the existing infrastructure and is a unique addition. As for the whole "you cant build on the parklands" thing, large swathes of parkland are barren, useless dustpans. I think we should activate sections...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I wasn’t trying to be condescending, it was a direct to the point question. On what grounds are you or I qualified to provide serious feedback on this or any proposal? How do you know the stadium wasn’t designed with the possibility of adding on to it as is the case with this development? The firm ...
