[APP] Re: 29 Twin Street | 124m | 38lvls | Student accom

I still don't understand one thing - are the "reflective glass panels" windows? Ah scratch that question - page 16 shows the "full height glazing" in the floor plan. That should look quite good Yes the floor to ceiling windows make this a winning design whether they change the cladding on the facad...

BUILT has advertised for tenders for a GAWLER PLACE HOTEL.
there are plans for an existing building, roughly opposite McHenry St, to be turned into a boutique hotel. Think it is limited to level 1 and basement refurbishment.

[U/C] Re: Adelaidean | 11 Frome Street | 135m | 37 Levels | Mixed Use | New tallest

Because our current tallest was built in the 80s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Perth's tallest building was built in 1992, Sydney's in 1981. What's your point? If this lost height, there is another building going up a block away that would still replace Westpac House as our tallest, and there ...

Safe to assume that the Adelaide Contemporary will be off the table now, as well as a metropolitan tram network... any other big things that won't proceed development wise?

[APP] Re: 269 North Terrace | ~125m | 34 Levels | student accommodation

Tall buildings does not = liveable city. I would go as far as saying in certain cases tall buildings can have a quantitatively bad affect on micro-environments and therefore need to be held to much, much higher design standards. Considering student accommodations usual design standards, a building ...

Couldnt disagree more... its all very well getting your 'post card shots' at night, but what about during the day in 30 degree baking sun. Trees and greenery are SO important for making an area feel nice and habitable.

Looks OK though I will reserve judgement till I see it in person... my one gripe would be that the plaques look a little similar to the NBN logo  :D

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the flappy things are a temporary measure until vines are planted and have been given some time to establish.

Off the top of my head... approximately 25,000 residents and 50,000 car parks (give or take a few thousand either way)

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects

Thank you for the photographs, Norman, but yuck! It looks cold, desolate, and a tad shoddy. Surely we are capable - and deserving - of better than that for our laneways? Purely out of interest would you be able to elaborate on this? Or hone in on any specifics? I don't necessarily disagree with you...

The carpark is owned by the ACC. I'd love to see that hideous monstrosity demolished, especially with Gawler Place soon to be revamped. Is it? I thought Gawler Upark was leased from the building's owner? I could be remembering wrong or things may have changed. You could be right. I just always pres...
