[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Whatever the Indigenous gallery becomes, it needs to be led by Indigenous people so it doesn't end up another staid museum for the white gaze. Absoloutely agree. programmes of not just contemporary visual art, but also music, dance, film and food. Things (food aside) that generally appeal more to t...

[SWP] Re: [SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Lastly, how would another MOMA do any better? In my experience contemporary galleries appeal to a broader range of people - not only those who love visiting art galleries but also those who normally don't. Mainly because they're full of flashing lights, funny sounds, pictures of naked people and th...

Re: Shift Hindmarsh Stadium into the city

Also, is it wise to build a noisy stadium right next to the accommodation wing of our major hospital? Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the idea of a new stadium per se - I just question the need for it when perfectly good alternatives for both the sporting and entertainment elements exist literal...

Re: Shift Hindmarsh Stadium into the city

Is a rectangular stadium the best use of that land in the long term? Bearing in mind it's right next to our prime health and medical/research/teaching precinct, the future Women's and Children's Hospital as well as the convention center. Is it not likely that one of these may require extension in th...

Re: The Federal Politics Thread

There's some good elements to this but I still think a trick has been missed in choosing the Aboriginal Art and Cultures Gallery over a potentially more popular and tourist-attracting contemporary gallery (ideally we'd have both, but I think the latter would be the bigger drawcard, although I'd be h...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

How does this work? I thought the Council didn't have any say in the planning process for $10M+ developments any more. Or do they still have some sway over design, setback etc?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Access to and from the Wilson and, if necessary, UPark car parks could still be maintained off of Pulteney Street - it's only a 50m stretch of road which doesn't have any particular businesses crying out for on-street dining. Pedestrianisation could just begin from Sushi King/Brunelli's westwards. B...

Re: Shift Hindmarsh Stadium into the city

I think the Marshall Government will have to do something otherwise they are a 1 termer. It would certainly be interesting to hear what the plans might be for the Coopers (and possible AEC) site if/when they are ever sold - I have heard various options ranging from a Bowden style TOD to a retail ce...

Re: Shift Hindmarsh Stadium into the city

Well it looks like A Coopers Stadium Shift to the CBSD is gaining traction and the 2 sites under consideration are: 1) Over the railway tracks near thew Convention Centre, and 2) At Next Generation next to AO. The old Coopers Stadium and Entertainment Center will be closed down and sold off in orde...

[VIS] Re: University of Adelaide Redevelopment (Main Campus)

I dont know if its urban myth or not, but I do campus tours at the university, and was told that when the Napier was built it had a pond out front, which the designers intended to reflect the 'beauty' of the Napier building... Needless to say that every time I do campus tours I am not very forgivin...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

You're also talking about an organisation that doesn't protest the yearly races taking over the parklands because it gets people using them. But they will happily protest changing rooms and grounds maintenance facilities next to sporting facilities because they're examples of "alienation from the p...
