[U/C] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

This hotel is a cheap tack-on to probably the most iconic stadium in the country. Plenty of high quality hotels just a short 5 minute stroll across the bridge (not coming from the parklands preservation brigade either).

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Just noticed today demolition is almost finished on the building on West Terrace between Rydges and Jarvis Subaru dealership.

Can't even recall what was there before, any idea on what what might be getting built there?

Just to clarify, are these cranes for the Carpark and the Plaza, or the office tower? Or both?
Tower in this case
Who's the tenant(s) for this tower?

Re: Harris Scarfe has gone broke

Maybe Myer, David Jones and Harris Scarfe should merge as one. By all means have sales but focus on giving the customer the best service and the best quality. Also focus on selling Australian Made lines. Sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see either David Jones or Myer close down as well in the next...

This is a non-story. Design is just taking slightly longer than anticipated (which happens on most projects). Incredible how quick people are to come up with conspiracy theories based on nothing!
Please fill us in with your inside information. We'd love to hear the facts.

Perhaps we already have enough high-end hotels under construction at the moment.... Sofitel, Skycity, Crowne Plaza, Adelaide Oval. Westin perhaps not too far from starting. Adding another 300 five-star rooms might be a bit of a stretch for a state that attracts just under 500k international tourists...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

So if we had a 4 day heatwave (40 plus), then we might be in a spot of bother? Not quite sure......I believe there is about 3.300 mw of total gas capacity plus diesel (not sure how much is there) plus batteries (around 100mw available, the Tesla big battery is only partly available, it is number on...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

On 5AA right now, the minister is saying by 2022 they will bring power bills down by $300 annually. Apparently the interconnector with NSW is meant to bring prices down. 2022... The building industry coincidentally is saying thatall new homes should be built with solar panels. I say go further, the...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

It would become expensive if most of the diesel generators need to be turned on. A problem this week is that home solar and some of the older wind turbines do nothing to regulate frequency on the grid - they assume something else will do that. More load means that more of the synchronous generators...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

South Australia being cut off from the NEM shouldn't be an issue. The average forecast temperature for the next 14 days for Adelaide is 26-32 degrees...so no heatwave coming up. Even today South Australia was exporting a small amount of power via Murraylink (which is still working, its the much lar...

Re: Crane Counter: CBD 10 | Metro 4| Total 14

A friend and I were sitting at The Kings Hotel having a beer this afternoon and noticed how noisy the crane was at Penny Place when it moved around. Why is that? We were debating as to whether it was diesel or electric :?:

Re: SA Economy

Commsec's latest State of the States report has been released. S.A is again ranked 6th overall out of 8 states and territories, a real mixed bag as usual. Not excelling in any one of the eight categories. Worryingly, we've ranked last on economic growth for 2019 (although still growing). A disappoin...

Reminds me a lot of the design and glass treatment on Prima Pearl in Melbourne.
Yep. Not to take this thread too far off track, but I think this was the type of glass many of us were expecting on Vue :?
