That’s all well and good, but enforcing certain setbacks and plot ratio’s etc will still make a development more expensive for the same amount of lettable area. Still discourages development all the same. In saying that, yes of course I would like to see more interesting designs than boring boxes. ...

The more I see of this building, the less it is grabbing my imagination, I am hopeful the finished product does something, at the moment I see nothing exciting.
Still a big improvement from the brown, weathered piece of crap that's been dominating our skyline for almost 30 years.

I hope this one does go ahead. I quite like the design going by the pics on the previous page, and a good bit of height for a prominent corner location 8)

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

I think there would be a lack of suitable space in the CBD for an Aldi. They are more suburban in nature, I don't think any of the other CBDs in Australia have one. I wouldn't have thought lack of space would be an issue in the CBD, especially the south west corner for instance. Off the top of my h...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

There are 2 Coles stores in the city. The Central Market one should be converted into IGA. An Aldi would be better.... I use the Coles at Central Market quite a bit, while it does the job it really is in need of a spruce up. You'd imagine it classifies as a "flagship" S.A store, so i'm surprised it...

Re: Crane Counter: CBD 14 | Metro 3| Total 17

While the number of CBD cranes hasn't really increased over the past couple of years, it's still encouraging to at least see them moving to a new project upon completion of a previous development. When I was living in Adelaide during the mid to late 90's, I recall going for months, even a year or 2 ...

It sucks that we still suffer so much internal loss to other states. But aside anything the Marshall Government is or isn't doing, we do stand to slightly increase our share of international migrants over the coming years thanks to federal migration agreements. Expect an uplift in international stu...

Sounds like a fair idea to me. Let's be honest here, a pine plantation is hardly attractive to the eye anyway. In fact, it's quite unsightly.

Can there be two? Advocates for national Indigenous gallery in Central Australia miffed that after 2-and-a-half years of consultation, the Feds gazump them to fund Adelaide gallery that started planning only last month: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-03-20/south-australia-nt-compete-funds-nationa...
