[U/C] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel

Let's be clear. Skycity has taken a big gamble (pardon the pun) on this project. I mean c'mon, even Darwin Casino has higher revenue than this place. Lets support it by taking the better half for a night out in what is definitely the best high end hotel in the city. It's about time they invested pr...

I ride my pushie past here regularly, I think this building looks excellent any time of the day. About time we got a casino that brings us into the 21st century 8)

Re: Moving the airport to a less populated area

[...] Why they have an airport that has 10x the traffic compared to Adelaide is also interesting, is it geography? Has the state of Texas targeted this? Combine the population of Dallas and Fort Worth and their greater metro area and you are looking at over 7.5 million people (US Census Bureau 2019...

Re: Moving the airport to a less populated area

Downtown Dallas has 6 buildings greater then 200m, 14 between 150-199m, and at least 22 between 100-149m. Tallest is 280m, and at least 4 more buildings over 100m are u/c. That's interesting. It made me look up Dallas today and that city is almost identical population to Adelaide, around 1.3 millio...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

Putting on my tin foil hat here. I reckon they are wanting to increase the speeds so that something that has cost the tax payer tens of billions of dollars doesn't become obsolete very soon. I mean, once 5G is commonplace and phone companies are offering 200GB+ plans (maybe even more), people will h...

The last concrete pour is tomorrow I believe and this is running ahead of schedule now by a few months. Yep, pretty impressive considering the piling rig was onsite only back in November 2019. I walk past this often and it does feel like it has risen fast in front of my eyes. Only seems like yester...

This needs to be a other 100m taller. At the point where the current designs finish, have the same finish with curried edges inset all the way up. The developer might be happy to do that, if you offer a long-enough term contract to lease the extra 23 floors of office space. It will be interesting t...

I'd hate to think this will change the food court to an expensive one, its one of the last food courts in Rundle Mall I know of that you can still get a cheap lunch
Agreed! I love that food court the way it is.

My mail is that there's a good chance that adelaide will get the boxing day test, as its unlikely that melbourne will be able to host it.

Unlike the Grand Prix, I think it's very likely this will happen.

[U/C] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I don't see the issue - it is bloody hard to argue with 100k+ at MCG for the marquee game. What never gets mentioned in this (endless) debate is the real economic activity the AFL has generated. Ignoring 2020, we have ended up with a $500M stadium, and a weekly game with 40k+ people in the city. Sa...

Imagine with me, if you a will.... a very possible Grand Final between the Brisbane Lions and say, Richmond Tigers, in which Brisbane is victorious. Then i'd just sit back and watch/listen to the Richmond supporters having a whinge over an unfair home ground advantage for the GF

Re: Petrol Station Owners

With regards to supermarket brands like IGA/Foodland/Drakes etc. I think it gets a bit confusing. Maybe the outlets are independently owned and some families might own multiple outlets. But they are also supplied by a conglomerate called Metcash, which is the fourth largest grocery brand after Woolw...

[U/C] Re: 269 North Terrace | 118m | 36 Levels | Student accommodation

I really have to sit on the fence with this issue of a blocked view, only in the case of this building in particular. In general though, I have no sympathy for someone complaining about it. On one side, the developer has most likely marketed these apartments with the views available from Adelaide's ...
