[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

Yes 3 lanes can be done with one boring machine but my point is 6 lanes can’t. Therefore they will need to use 2 boring machines to do 6 lanes (ie. 3 lanes in each direction). So obviously using 2 TBMs will be a lot more expensive than using 1 TBM for 2 x 2 lanes. Further they could potentially com...

And what about Emerson ?.......and Woodville Road.......the list goes on and on.... No point doing Emerson while there is a review iogoing about the broad design of the north-south corridor. Once the design is set, it may be possible to do whatever the solution is for that area in advance of the ma...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

I don’t understand how the Torrens Road level crossing removal will cost $200m given that the land reservation already exists for the road overpass and there would be minimal disruption to both rail and road traffic? Also obvious Brighton Road will be a rail overpass. Property acquisition for a roa...

While I totally agree after looking into tunnel boring machines, Wiki says “Tunnel diameters can range from one metre (3.3 ft) to 17.6 metres (58 ft) to date.“ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunnel_boring_machine I wonder if that’s the reason for 2 lanes (x 2)? For say 6 lanes x 3m width (plus say...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling

It's more that they have prams, so think that they have right of way over all other people at all other times under all other circumstances, and boy will they tell you about it if you think otherwise. Lucky they don't have horses - horse riders' thinking seems to e the same. Horse riders do have ri...

That article says that the current lease expires next month. Given that the website still says "moving next year" without any more specific date or recent updates, I assume the lease has been extended by a few months. Does anyone know for sure when the new building might be occupied or what the proc...

You can read the rest of the report here: https://www.bitre.gov.au/publications/ongoing/files/International_airline_activity_CY2018.pdf Norman , thanks for posting the report year ending 2018. Would be great to have the individual airlines load factors for Adelaide. Even better would be to have the...

It really feels like this is getting no further along. It's just announcements and re-annoucements of funding and planning. I guess I'm naïve about DPTI's processes, but with all the studies so far, I'm surprised we need yet another to decide an option. Do they need to update assumptions, go furthe...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling

There are still ongoing issues with pedestrians using the dedicated cycle way in Frome St. Not only office workers during the week, but casual strollers on weekends and lately I witnessed women pushing prams. Often with two or more people they block the entire cycle path thoroughfare. Signage is cl...

[PRO] Re: Westfield Marion (2019/20 Extension)

Real bright idea to reduce the number of car parks! Agreed. Why would the developers choose to reduce total parking in the process of building a four-level carpark. I would have thought that proposing eight levels with a modest increase in total parking would be appropriate for a development that i...

It's going to look more like a miss matched mess when we start getting random blind heights when residents move in. I appreciate the tower will be a great living space, but apart from height it offers zero to the skyline. Maybe when there are lots of different blinds and levels instead of just one ...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

The most immediate fix is to put Marion Road in a trench under ANZAC Highway, the tramline and Cross Road - killing three birds with one stone. Will finishing the North-South Motorway draw traffic off of Marion Road that has moved over there to avoid the roadworks and incomplete bits? I imagine tha...

I thought that, based on the draft plan of R2P, Croydon would remain where they were, but that their pitch would be rotated slightly. That is my understanding too, but I guess that "rotating" a pitch is functionally the same as destroying it and making a new one somewhere else (even if they overlap...

I would say they have already secured a site before making this announcement and doubt they would be looking at any still for sale/on the market. An article below I found talks about the potential airport & transport hub being at Monarto... so maybe this area is likely for Thomas foods? https://www...
