Re: Commonwealth Games in Adelaide

I’d say the roadworks for the North-South motorway need to be finished between T2T and Anzac Highway (the crossing points between the airport and the city/games venues) before the games, too. I wouldn't count the cost of building that as part of the cost of hosting the games, either. The Cross Road...

Re: Commonwealth Games in Adelaide

I sincerely hope the folly of a railyards stadium isn't the factor making the bid uneconomic. There are surely other options that aren't nearly as expensively engineered. And I have to say, I think there's a small reputation cost to not proceeding -- it'll seem like yet another pissant decision fro...

All right hawkeyes, past there this morning and the "yellow frame" that has been on the south face between the balconies has gone. Does this mean there is some sort of design change from this point upward? what was its purpose? I'm not even sure when it was removed. cheers It appears to have disapp...

Re: News & Developments: Prospect

https://www.foodmag.com.au/aldi-rival-kaufland-arrives-in-australia/ One of the world’s largest retailers, Kaufland, has broken ground to commence construction of its first South Australian supermarket in Prospect, their first outside of Europe. It is one of three stores it will be building in Aust...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

I don't think Adelaide Metro/DPTI/SAPTA have the budget, skill or creativity to come up with something more interesting than what we have. When the government decides to value public transport, marketing and design more highly, maybe then they can hire some professionals to give public transport th...

It will be an otr convenience I believe.
A bit further up the page, people are blaming Rundle Mall Foodland for the loss of three convenience stores. This new convenience store would be a similar distance from Foodland as the closest of those three.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Just find that altered livery interesting.. Source: Kate Lambe @ Twitter That's been in place for the new buses for years now. They mean the image in the bus window. Looks alright, but the side logo isn't necessary. The side logo might be a provision for paid advertising - nobody paid to be in this...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

We're hoping hard. Labor simply give us more stuff (and positive at that) to talk about here on S-A! Perhaps. But they also know how to waste money. Cheers The stereotype that Labor are worse economic managers than the Liberals is plainly absurd and not backed up by any evidence. The Liberals are s...

Another SA business is no more as the last Shoe Shed in the Myer Centre goes out with a bang. It's literally high time the retail industry pulls its head outta its butt and realizes that today's online shopping culture and trade agreements are an Asset, not a Liability. I've lost a couple of local ...

There are some large steel roof trusses on site waiting to be lifted into place. These cover the whole length of the courts. picture 6/9/2019. These trusses were mentioned on ABC radio sometime in the last week. They took a number of hours to get delivered by road from Edinburgh in the small hours ...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

With the new Foodland in full swing, small convenience stores in the city are now gradually becoming a thing of the past. Just recently, three stores; KBS Convenience (Currie St), City Convenience (Grenfell St) and KW Cornerstore (Cnr Waymouth St/King William St) have shut up shop. And there was no...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Transport Projects

I hope that at least the northern end of the road is built - a highway bypass around Truro and down to the Murray plains. That would improve the safety in the town and on the road. That would become part of the Sturt Highway as well as part of the Globelink Highway, with the junction on the eastern ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Tram or no tram fix the bridge. Although banning trucks over 26 tonnes isnt a bad thing. I would hope State Liberals, or even Federal Libs wouldn'tbe so petty as not to fund it in case they used it for trams in the future. What route(s) do concrete trucks typically use to access the northern parts ...
