Why do they not just buy the Mitre 10 site as that will surely close if this Bunnings were to be built.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Victoria Park has had major earth moving works done to it to make sports fields and paths. It is now nothing like a surface horse racing can be done on. The park prior as a horse track was mostly inaccessible with railing and fences. The only part of the ground the horse racing would maintain is the...

Widen the main part of the Torrens between Bonython Park and the Zoo and then extend it through the east and south parklands.

That $70k could’ve been better invested in moving to a new site. Just saying... Moving to a new site would not deliver them a new IT system. They could have spent $70k on a new van but that would be $70k still not going to their IT system they wanted/needed to update. So what are you saying? $70k m...

It is called the M2 / North-South motorway the entire way. That is why this thread has that name also.

[U/C] [U/C] Re: [U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

So the party differentiation I don't think there is any difference. The last claimed Liberal vs Labor difference was Darlington vs T2T and had both started within 12 months anyway. They were just sections needing to be done, nothing to do with Labor or Liberal. If either side claim any project for ...

The same wall heading north of the collapse has precast concrete lining it the entire way. It very much looks like this was a temp cover until they capped it like the rest. The finish just isn't at the same level as everything else in the project. I assume the precast covered sections will be review...

whether they vote a month in advance or on the day, same outcomes, same BS.. I think it is that we live in an on demand world. We shop 24/7 online, can't go 2 days without all our favourite stores open, we watch TV shows and movies on our own schedule, we book chauffeured vehicles on our own schedu...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

^^ That makes sense you don't get paid Public Holiday Penalties if you don't go to work. Just regular leave pay. <..snip..> **Except Rundle Mall and Grote street stores. I never said people should get penalty rates, they should just get a regular steady pay week to week. Just like the other states ...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

That's not true Coles and Woolies have National EBAs. Relevant staff would of been renumerated well, according to what has been negotiated with unions and the companies in accordance to the EBA agreement. Coles SA staff were forced to take annual leave, time in lieu or unpaid leave if they were ros...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

Do you mean supermarket staff were paid ordinary time for Sunday, and Public Holiday overtime for Monday? Did that apply for all workers on Sunday and Monday or just supermarkets? Supermarket staff were not paid if they were rostered to work on the Sunday. Those SA employees simply lost that income...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

QLD just recently made Easter Sunday a Public Holiday a couple of years back in exchange for an open trading day for non excempt stores. Yep and what did Liberals give South Australians for losing their public holiday? Zero? Now South Australian workers have the worst public holiday trading terms i...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

Apparently I don't listen well. It is Sunday that SA stores are shut and staff need to take annual leave or unpaid leave etc. NSW, Vic, Queensland and ACT have Easter Sunday as a public holiday and pay employees as such. The main issue was the talk that opening Easter Monday now makes SA fall inline...

Re: Deregulation of Shop Trading Hours

Here's something to think about. I have been told Coles will not be opening many of their stores on Easter Monday. The workers must take that day off as annual leave or time in lieu. So these workers have a choice of losing pay for a public holiday and a day of their annual leave or they can choose ...

[...] I think there is a seriously strong argument to make for Rundle Street becoming a one way street at this point to vastly increase the amount of outside space for eateries. From Frome Road to East Tce I say make it a one lane one way street and try and bring more year long liveliness to the ar...
