Re: Uber

I caught an Uber saturday night around 1030pm from Grenfell st in town to home. Another ocuple was with us and needed to be dropped off on the way - no complaint from driver. I've had taxi's charge me extra for extra drop off. Car smelled nice, driver was nice, trip would have cost me $22 without th...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Meanwhile in Melbourne, plans were recently released to increase cycle commuting to 25% of modal share.

I wonder why young, intelligent people are making a mass exodus to Melbourne from Adelaide? Might not only be because there are no jobs.

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

But some of you still wont get it through your heads that this sort of behavior does not belong on public roads . No, we all agree on this point. Apparently, so does the Crown, given that the truck driver has been arrested and charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and two cou...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

Will some of you listen now to what I'm saying? “We had seen a group of bikes in the left lane and I was a bit worried about them because a four-wheel drive had to come into our lane onto oncoming traffic at 100km/h to get around them, that’s how far out on the road they were ,” she said. http://ww...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

There are at-least ten (public and private) schools in the CBD, five university campuses (Flinders, City West, City East, Uni Adelaide and the universities in the Torrens Building), and plenty of smaller offices that don't make their orders on-line. Whilst a lot of these education institutions do o...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

I assure you I am not driving my car because it's been marketed to me without me knowing. Quite the contrary, you have been socialised into using an automobile, as most people are. Driving a car is regularly touted as a 'right of passage' for the common 16 year old, a marker of gaining significant ...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

There will always be cases like this, and on the whole im sure those calling for more cycling are not arguing you should ride a bike irrespective of how long your commute is. The fact is a significant majority of the population take the car for trips less than 5ks which could easily be done by bicy...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

The guy driving his car to work has to fill it up with petrol. The government takes it's share of tax revenue from that. The guy driving to work is choosing the single most expensive, single most environmentally damaging and most sedentary method of commuting. It's his call, but he doenst have to d...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

*sigh* im out. Obviously the fact that a bike rider's health directly benefits society as a result of reduced burden on the health system (both mental and physical) is lost on you. You're an interesting individual rubberman It is telling that you call cycling a hobby, when for many it is their prima...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

Sure it is, but the % chance of that is so low it's not worth the investment. sure do some passive stuff but dmfar out, you car drivers ( I'm one of them) really like to make mountains out if mole hills. Really? If one looks at the data so kindly provided by realstretts, the cost of injuries to cyc...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion

Christ I swear some people are either intentionally talking out of their rear ends and making things up claiming I said things I clearly havent(even in big bold red text) or they really can't read!! Btw, so much for claims the Police don't do anything when people report dangerous driving. There was...
