Re: The SA Politics Thread

I wasn’t sure where to post this within the Transport and Infrastructure section so I will post it here. It looks like the former CEO of Great Southern Rail Tony Braxton-Smith will be taking the reigns of DPTI. https://indaily.com.au/news/local/2018/09/24/dose-of-reality-as-transport-department-gets...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

In a bit of a change of discussion away from the extensions for a moment, Lord Mayor Martin Hease has suggested a heritage tram service using some of the surviving H type trams be introduced on Sundays as a heritage/tourist operation. The Advertiser had an article about it yesterday (available here ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Last night, trams returned to the eastern half of North Terrace for the first time since 1958. Flexity 113 was the chosen vehicle to undertake clearance testing along the new line. After coming off the Glenelg line, 113 was reversed at West Terrace using the turn back siding before running back to A...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

That looks like three grand union junctions down King William Street? (it's hard to tell as the street directory does not show two tracks), and also Wakefield/Pulteney/Hanson Streets? Did the trams run both ways on one side of Whitmore Square, or did that section only go northbound? It looks like t...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I’ve just bought a nice old Gregory’s map of Adelaide from eBay, that I’m thinking of getting framed. I’m not sure of it’s age, but what caught my eye was the amount of red tram lines, present throughout the city! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180312/ab09346e74f9f50e300847c70b7474c8.jpg Sent f...

Re: Interactive maps of the former tramway network

Would you be able to do that in one map all together? It took a little bit longer than I had planned but the full combined map is now available to view. 21 tram routes (routes 1 and 2 out of the 23 were Hackney and City Depot runs respectively), around 440 tram stops and possibly 1200-1300 photos a...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Says will need 4 more new trams. And where might these 4 "new " trams come from? Surely not 4 ex Madrid 10 year old stored trams? The three Madrid trams that have recently arrived in Adelaide (150, 154, 155, now becoming 207, 208, 209) were the last unused Citadis trams available for acqu...

Re: 2018 South Australian State Election

Great agenda. The level crossing removal program has been hugely popular in Victoria and would be popular here as well. No mention of what tram lines would be extended though? My guess is they will finally release the final or draft tram business case and then announce routes then. I think I have s...

Re: Interactive maps of the former tramway network

The maps were designed to fit the Tramway Museum website history section which has the lines based on geographical direction, hence the four seperate maps. With all of the information for the main system now collated, it won’t be much work at all to transfer the data to a new, whole system map. Watc...

Re: Interactive maps of the former tramway network

Sorry for the delay but the fourth map of the former Adelaide tramway network is now available after several months of work. This particular map covering the western suburbs lines (Findon, Henley Beach, Hilton/Richmond, Wayville West and Glenelg as well as the various tramway loops and sidings provi...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Last couple of photos from today showing the present state of the East Terrace tram stop. As previously reported by Norman, work at the SA Museum and University tram stops is progressing quite quickly now.
