I was thinking the same thing. It's a massive land holding. Build the trams and the rest will follow (finally!!).

Is the Adelaide Airport curfew 11pm? I feel like Guns'n'Roses were in a real rush to leave tonight...

[COM] Re: 11-27 Frome Street | ~120m & 70m | 36 & 21 Levels
And do you know why the developer really owns the site? Beyond the fact that he obviously purchased it... Because the University of Adelaide refused to negotiate or even consider the sale of the Rhino Room building (and the small parcel of land it sits on) to its operator and this was well before t...

Here she is at 140m. I agree with Algernon and I highly doubt it's 140m. This is just a shitty five minute job in SketchUp so it's nowhere near accurate, but the proportions don't seem right. Seems a bit long and thin. 1.png 2.png 3.png Thanks mate. It does seem all on its own out there, but I gues...

Anyone have the tools to put this building into context against our skyline? Be interesting to see the effect of a potential new tallest so far towards the east end.

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Rail Transport & Infrastruct
Same goes for the Strathalbyn fare. $40 per day for a commute! That's almost $10,000 a year. Repayments on spending an extra 200k for a house closer to Adelaide would be similar.

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
I think the idea is the convention centre is supposed to look disconnected. If it was giant single building it would be boring. The majority of this riverbank precinct is the convention centre and the 3 unrelated parts make it seem like more is going on there than there actually is. Eg a friend rec...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
The Wright St. Hotel may well be heritage listed, but Rachel Sanderson is correct in that there are plans for apartments. A colleague knows the (former) owners well. The building was fairly recently sold and will cease to operate as a hotel towards the end of the year. I would assume the vacant bloc...

Me too. Looks to be a timeless design.stronic wrote:I really like the tower.
Can't say the same about the Convention Centre unfortunately... I agree with others that, as a whole, the buildings in the Riverbank Precinct don't appear as though they will compliment each other.

if its on public land it needs to at least look nice. Yep, agreed. But I'm talking more about the State Govt. leasing the new office tower, only because they wouldn't be able to find enough private companies wanting to pay top dollar for some new office space  It looks fine. If you are worrie...

To be fair, I think the government are doing all they can to actually attract commercial development and probably aren't in a position to be too fussy about putting restrictions on the floorspace. It is pretty self evident that Walker Corp will want to gain as much return as possible on their (fairl...

Hope not. It is hideous. Fits in with the rest of the Brisbane CBD though...Will wrote:That is a private development.
There is actually nothing stopping a similar consortium proposing something similar here, other than the small problem of our smaller population base.....
