I hope it gets rejected, not only because it looks bloody awful, but also because that isn't just a partial demolition of a heritage building- it is a complete butchering of one.

[PRO] Re: Crows HQ at Thebarton Oval
Depends who you're speaking to I guess. I live in the inner west, have family that live on streets leading up to Thebarton Oval, and they and others I speak to in the area are generally supportive and can see the benefits, or don't have a strong opinion. I'm sure it does. As a local resident I am n...

[SWP] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
I am probably just getting far too old and cynical but I tend to think that there is absolutelty no way this revised version will ever be built- and the Government knows it. They are picking an almighty fight with the parklands and heritage advocacy groups, and if a development forum is largely nega...

[SWP] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
There isn't really much point in co-locating the two hospitals unless there is an actual physical connection between them. If a patient is required to be transported by ambulance from one hospital to the other it really doesn't matter that much whether the hospital is 300 metres down the road or 3 k...

We have seen in recent years heritage buildings delisted because they were butchered by 70s and 80s extensions. Based on that precedent this lot should not be able to remove so much as a brick unless they can come up with a much more impressive design than these early concepts.

Thanks for posting. Early days- but I am pleasantly surprised by that picture. The glazing and pattern looks different to the renders, which is not a bad thing at all.

Yep, my thoughts went straight to those ugly US 'sky' freeways as well. Well worth paying the extra money to avoid that eyesore.

Still not a fan, but I have at least noticed two positive things about this building so far. Firstly, when viewed from the north it is not as bulky as all of the other 100+ buildings. The 'slimmer' design creates a nice and much needed point of difference. Secondly, I was driving past on Friday appr...

Whilst I agree with the general sentiment that the building is not particularly good, I get tired of the sensationalistic take that always gets played. Is the building a bit shit? Yes. Is it the worst building in Adelaide ? Of course not, not even close. What does “looks worse than even the most hy...

Let’s have some context. The ground floor was nothing more than a pokie room. Hopefully this new development will activate the entire stretch of the development which will actually improve the vibrancy especially with the toilet block gone too. Yeah, maybe so but an easier fix would've been to get ...

Indaily article about the Whitmore square proposal mentioned a few pages back: https://indaily.com.au/news/sponsored-content/2021/05/03/modern-living-has-new-address-as-square-takes-shape/ This looks so good IMO. Kinda out of place in a good way...the renders are shit quality, but if they use some ...

I think she is spot on- that square grid is very clunky. Other than that its a decent design, so if they can fix it and the weather proofing up at this early stage then it is a promising sign of the system working exactly as it should.

I'd like to think that this will force developers to give greater weight to protecting and incorporating local heritage items, but the success this time (versus the former State Bank building) probably has more to do with Art Deco having a dedicated fan base prepared to advocate. Me too. State Bank...
