Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
You might be happy to have your energy use "managed" but large energy intensive industries are not. Backup generation in SA is regularly "managed" by diesel generation-so you don't notice a shortage of power...hardly good for the environment. None of this is advertised by whoeve...

[SWP] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
If the land wasn't already being developed by Renewal SA, the old LeCornu site on Anzac Highway could've been another perfect location for the nWCH. It's on a major road, reasonably centrally-located, buses run right outside the doorstep, and nothing of heritage significance used to be there (unles...

[SWP] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
I doubt the Parklands preservation people will make much of a fuss - it's only the eastern parklands they've ever really cared about. It will be a shame to lose the heritage buildings - the old buildings at the back of the barracks are very nice, and only recently renovated. On the other hand this m...

Yes, the North Terrace ground level was poured a couple of days ago, so we have an actual above ground building now . They're setting up scaffolding for the next floor already.

A lot of work taking place right now to prepare the ground floor level for a large pour. A small section on the SW corner has been done already. The corner wall sections around the edges of the building were installed recently too, so the above ground building shape is starting to take form. https:/...

The Torrens to Torrens is even worse... this is a year old photo - the concrete plinths are badly cracked and crumbling now. And look at the unevenness of the guttering. The road surface also looks like its 20 years old. No street trees can fix the level of craptacular construction on display here h...

If a concert at the Thebarton Theatre was loud enough to be heard in or impact the integrity of the tunnel, at least we would not get any complaints about aircraft noise for a while! For a serious question, are the tunnels proposed to be dug through sedimentary dirt/silt, or deep enough to...

One possible alternative route around this area is to follow James Congdon to Port Rd and then skirt the edge of the parklands until Port Road meets up with South Road again. That whole stretch is probably wide enough for a surface road the whole way.

Now that the railyards sports arena proposal is off the cards, DIT have moved very swiftly to turn a chunk of that land into a new paved carpark, complete with new fencing and lighting. Would that be the area pictured here? Its the section between that grassy area in the picture and the railway. In...

The floor for the 'upper' basement level is pretty much done, and a second lift box is now going up. Everyone seemed to take about 3 weeks off around Easter, so that might explain the slowdown. Will the synchrotron be getting dropped into the bunker soon I wonder?

Well, clearly there isn’t likely to be as much of a demand for student accommodation as pre-COVID. Just stumbled on this article by RealEstate.com, it seems the owners of this have opted to rent these out as ‘shared living’ during the rental crisis. Hats off to them, I think this kind of innovative...

Taken a couple of days ago - the 'first' floor is being poured (ie the upper basement floor). Can't really see whats happening at the back around the bunker anymore, but I think the bunkers concrete shell is now mostly complete.
