Re: News & Discussion: Trams

The new City South platforms are finally finished as of this morning Not in Adelaide at the moment, would anyone be about to do a run-by photo grab of the upgraded track and stations? :D Consider it done. This is from Tuesday, but they're still basically completed. https://i.imgur.com/IjYmBp8.jpg

If the discussion on this thread are anything to go by, the arguments against retaining the hill are completely unfounded, and as for the Commonwealth Games bid, Glasgow and Gold Coast both built a temporary stands over their hill and I suspect the same will happen in Adelaide because it's cheaper,...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

As neutral who has little interest in grass oval sports, I recognise the hill and scoreboard as intrinsic parts of Adelaide Oval's identity. Capacity is not a concern, so what would the point of removing the things that make it unique and identifiable other than satiating some warped inferiority co...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I base it on Eastern States commentators consistently calling Perth Stadium the best venue in Australia. I base it on locals here asking me why they haven't finished AO yet when we watch games on TV. All of this is really frustrating to me, because AO is the best located Stadium in Australia if not...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

What it is about you people and comparing what we have to other states? AO isn't symmetric like Perth Stadium, cool, who really cares? I don't think people come to the oval and say to themselves: "Gee, this stadium is shit because the stands are not all the same height!" OR "Look at that mound, it ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

With talk of grade seperation at Westbourne Park, should Hawthorn be reopened in exchange for closing Unley Park? It'd be a good opportunity to move Unley Park station north of crossroad, where the larger population lives (in comparison to Hawthorn which it's in). It would also then be in the subur...

Is it just me or does it seem a lot of our highrises are becoming narrower? Is it because of higher land prices or is there another reason? It's not a good/bad thing. Some "narrower" buildings look great. Just an observation. May be coincidental from small properties in the CBD selling recently, or...

I don't find this too bad. It's not great either. Just a 6/10.

Any estimates on the height? I reckon 70 to 80 metres.
