Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I got the information third hand from a source who was present when Steven Marshall made the comment along the lines of ‘its makes sense to extend the tram to Adelaide Oval’. I am just the messenger. As I did not hear it directly myself, I treat this as a 'rumour'. I interpreted this as being in as...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

A rumour circulating during the week suggests that Adelaide will likely go ahead and bid for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. As the host city will be decided in September this year by the committee, and Adelaide is the preferred candidate already, we have to assume there is now a real chance of being s...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

How far away is a tram to North Adelaide? This is my view to create some discussion. What is known so far? The State Liberal Party has made this one of their key infrastructure projects for further investigation. Liberal party members that have an invested interest in the Adelaide Oval hotel proposa...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

There will be another debate if the Adelaide Crows take over the Aquatic Centre, rebuild & expand it to make it their HQ, Club and training grounds. Personally as a rate payer of ACC I would be all for it, increased activity for North Adelaide, better use of the area than today and probably be bett...

[U/C] Re: 202 Tynte Street (Channel 9 Site) | ?m | 6 Levels | Hotel

Tynte Street was totally resurfaced with new asphalt between O'Connell St and Wellington Square just over a week ago, I was there a couple of hours ago and the new street surface has been dug up to put new services in for this development. I would have thought better communication between ACC works ...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway

So getting hands on the actual funds is a long way off? If SA can’t get funding sorted for this project in a timely manner, how does the State Liberal party think they are going to get the enormous amount of funding required for their pet Globelink project? BTW the first two stages of the Globelink ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

The site doesn't seem like it would be big enough for a decent aquatic center. The site looks to be about half the size of the North Parklands aquatic centre (without parking). The swimming pool would need to be upstairs from the diving pool (or vice versa). Either way would make for some "interest...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

The ex-LeCornu site (AKA Eighty Eight O'Connell) has already moved on to Stage 2 of the EOI for the redevelopment of the site (the ACC review & selection decision was more than a week ago). The shortlist consists of proposals put forward in Stage 1 of the EOI process. Those that have been selected h...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Bring back the grand central hotel. http://www.adelaideheritage.net.au/all-site-profiles/grand-central-hotel/ Maybe it’s time to consider a long term plan to make Rundle Street East a Mall, it could be done in two stages over a period of years, the first stage from Frome Street to East Terrace and ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

This latest thinking from ACC is plain wrong. Trying to bring up an old idea that is backwards. As part of the City Access project for the O’Bahn, both East Terrace and Rundle Road were redeveloped in parts which allowed for an additional 50+ on street car parks in the area for a trade off in remov...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Having the 5 squares both surrounded by and carved up by high traffic, high noise, wide streets totally writes them off as attractive parks to visit. The Colonel got a few things right with the city plan, but the parks within the city centre he did not. I've seen too many lively city parks in other...

[APP] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

FYI The Perth Test Match total crowd numbers have come in with a total of approx 80,000, compared to the recent Adelaide Test Match of approx 112,000. I thought the Adelaide Test Match crowds were a bit sparse as well whilst in attendance, but considering the first 2 days of the Adelaide Test were e...
