Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects

The upgrade looks great and is well overdue. I don't think the people in the tenders represent the actual crowd though ... Where's Stumbling Sam, Drunk Dave and a random person throwing up in one of the new planter boxes? Hopefully the urban elements are all designed to take plenty of damage, includ...

I think it has been put on hold rather than scrapped until they can find a suitable place for a new tram depot.

Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway

I noticed yesterday when driving through that the new variable speed limit signs in the tunnel and on the approaches are bidirectional, ie they are on both sides of the gantry. You can see this in the renders if you look close enough. Presumably this is so they can close one tunnel off during and e...

Re: SA Economy

South Australia has had negative interstate migration since the 1970s, as has New South Wales. It's been an ongoing issue for both states for a very long time. I'm not sure that's entirely true. I thought S.A's net interstate migration losses only became entrenched from 90/91 onwards (State Bank co...

From yesterday. The platform looks to be almost complete, and the car park is almost done. Still some work to do on the bus interchange. https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=8AC526A53435B646%211074741&authkey=%21AMzIF-mjo-WDuRw&width=1024 https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=8AC526A53435B6...

The easiest way to fix this would be for Australia to become a republic. Done and dusted.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy

Heavy rail excels at high speed, large station spacing, long trains, large passenger numbers at each stop. Trams and buses typically have lower speeds, closer stations, shorter trains, small passenger numbers per stop. At the moment, Adelaide heavy rail for the most part is trying to be a tram oper...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy

They lost me at "trackless trams". It's a bus. Living here for just under a year it is clear that public transport is very infrequent and very limited in where it goes. I have been more reliant on my car than ever before. The basics they need to do include: - Increasing weekend train frequ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Not to be too negative but feels like a serious amount of hype for a short neighbourhood road that for some reason costs 3 million  I think I remember a Utopia episode or two where the governement just needed to find some positive annoucements to show progress. Some politicians are happy to co...
