[U/C] Re: 88 O'Connell Street | 63m | 13, 13 and 15 Levels | Mixed Use

A photo like that reminds you just how damn flat the Adelaide Plains really are. From the end of the airport runway. it's an airport FFS... would you rather it be on the side of a hill? the only reason you can see 88 O'Connell Street from there so prominently is because of the elevation of the geog...

Random thought from when I was walking through the mall just after the shops had closed and needed a toilet... Wasn't part of the deal with this site getting the old public bathrooms for their building that they had to provide new publicly accessible bathrooms? The bathrooms they've built in the arc...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

With the oval at Lyndoch Park being upgraded for Gather Round 2025 and future events, seems like the perfect time to reinstate the Barossa rail line that runs right alongside the grounds. https://www.indaily.com.au/sport/football/2024/04/08/barossa-sports-hub-gets-40-million-upgrade-for-gather-roun...

If they can't get the museum idea off the ground I'd love to see a new performing arts aspect built into these double-height floors! retractable tiered seating, green rooms and dressing facilities. Could be a new modern performance space promoting and fostering South Australian talent. I personally...

Just over 10 years since this thread and the first concept design was posted here. Certainly very different! I count 27 levels, should be over the 100m mark! Nice design too! http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2013/07/17/1226680/893067-233bc300-eeb0-11e2-a799-ec5c9dace08a.jpg Precinct plan. http:/...

Is it just me or is the Grote Street frontage taking a while to demolish? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Walking past last night, it looks like they're doing soil remediation in the southeast corner due to asbestos. Yellow caution tape that may or may not say asbestos on it (dark, didn't have t...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Scrap on-street parking down O'Connell. There's what, 100 car parks at the most? Probably less because of current bus stops and laneways and entrances. Trams run down the existing parking lanes and have the stops directly onto the footpaths. The benefit is that the buses can use the same stops and O...

Anyone know when the Flinders Uni signage is going up?
Presumably once Flinders Uni are in the building, which I believe is slated for first semester 2025?
They move in from 2024

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I'd love to know how much of O'Connell St traffic does not have the CBD as its destination or origin.

Having just moved to North Adelaide, I'd love to see O'Connell St transformed into something similar to Jetty Road Glenelg.

Based on the mounting points, they've definitely got the naming rights then.

Is this the first building in SA using curved glazing? Iirc the sky city building uses thinner flat glass for the curves which this KW building doesn't seem to have done.
Almost certainly since the passing of the Art Deco era
