Demolition works for the Quest 2 Hotel are underway.
Where is that ?
The block next to the British Hotel - where the Fodder Store used to be.

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Does anyone have any inside info on the Rydges development on McLaren Pde? I assume it's been canned - as all of the signage with pics of the proposed hotel have now been removed from the site. There is now a sign up advertising for a "unique leasing opportunity" with a picture of a disgus...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

I heard many years ago from a staff member that Coles Port Adelaide's 'sideways' store orientation (aisles run side to side instead of front to back) is due to the coffin freezers being too difficult/ not cost effective to remove, and so even once the dividing wall went up on the once Super K Mart ...

Shopping at any new supermarket is confusing because you don't know where anything is.

Aussies love Bunnings and hypermarkets are supermarkets on Bunnings scale... actually bigger but the point stands.
Yeh that must be it, I just didn't know where things were.

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Ok.. am I missing something? In the early 90,s the Coles/Kmart “ hypermarket” based on a European model was opened on the current site to much fanfare. The Kmart merchandise was mixed in with the Cole’s food isles and vice versa. It was too confusing for customers, so the whole lot was separated ba...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

The B777-200 are the oldest planes in the Emirates fleet, approx 14-17 years old. Emirates have 60+ A350 on order, deliveries commencing later this year I believe. They also have orders for B787-10. Both these planes are ideal to service Adelaide and I think it will not be too long down the track a...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

What happened to the A350? 2-2-2 config in Bizzo is :toilet: Whilst still sub-par, the one we're getting is actually the best of Emirates 777 biz offering. The other 777's are 2-3-2 with the dreaded middle seat. Rumor has it that Emirates have decided the first batch of A350's will be configured fo...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Saltwater and Cryptic , well let's hope they are the start of a permanent second service that would give Adelaide travellers the option. Like I said in my post it would've been good if they added these flights during the northern hemisphere summer. Anyhow, looks like I'll be on one of the last Airb...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Yeh, being a frequent visitor to Vietnam, I was pretty disappointed when I saw the schedule - horrid is correct. I was hoping for a direct flight. I'm guessing that their A321's don't have the range to make it non-stop from ADL to SGN, and they don't believe there enough demand to fill an A330's - ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

https://www.airlineratings.com/news/passenger-news/vietjet-adds-adelaide-to-its-network/ Via Perth is pretty horrid. However, fingers crossed that it is well patronised and Vietjet starts direct HCMC-Adelaide flights soon. Yeh, being a frequent visitor to Vietnam, I was pretty disappointed when I s...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Dock One have released a new render of the Colac development. No clues as to whether it's going to be a pub again, but the render has people drinking outside, so fingers crossed. "Reviving history with a modern twist! Works are currently underway for the Colac Hotel, transforming it from its 18...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Qantas has put in an order for a bunch of Airbus A220s, which would replace the B737-800s, B717s and E190s. These planes could seat around 130 passengers, but with a far bigger flight range than the planes they are replacing, which might open up more possibilities for regional (Kalgoorlie, Uluru?) ...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

Jesus, if that's the original renders they've really not done a very good job replicating it... Just slabs of concrete. It is being built in sections. The big slabs of concrete you see in the photos are in the middle of the development facing Gibson. There is another building to go in front of thos...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

It looks like it's part of a broader plan to ultimately ditch Tiger, and possibly revert Virgin back to a LCC. Do you have a source for this or just your personal opinion? I know this is the wet dream of certain VirginBlue fanboys on other aviation forums, but the current management of VA have made...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Some of the new vendors for the airport expansion have been announced. I'm not smart enough to post pictures in this forum but they are on the AAL linked in page and here https://www.broadsheet.com.au/adelaide/food-and-drink/article/jamface-maggie-beer-and-penfolds-are-coming-adelaide-airport Looks ...
