Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

This is the only place where I can find to talk about the Paradise Interchange Park'n'Ride expansion , being undertaken by Public Transport Projects Alliance (PTP Alliance). This forms part of PTP Alliance's North-East Public Transport Study , commissioned by the current SA Liberal government. When...

[PRO] Re: [PRO] Re: Torrens Road Grade Separation

There are several problems which combine to make the Overland less attractive than just driving: Parklands terminal is near nothing It takes substantially longer than driving The drive is happily achievable in one day, compared with Sydney to Melbourne/Brisbane which is a very very long drive The l...

[PRO] Re: [PRO] Re: Torrens Road Grade Separation

(TrebleSketch)Currently, the future of Overland beyond the end of this year is uncertain. As you can't book any tickets next year now, due to the uncertainty of funding from both the SA Libs and Vic Lab governments. I would prefer train over coach any day if I were to be travelling between the two ...

[PRO] Re: Torrens Road Grade Separation

I'd love to see freight and even interstate passenger services relocated from the Belair and Gawler lines - they form a significant barrier for pedestrians and other movements in the case of long trains, plus the route through the Hills is slow and inefficient. However, at the same time I'd love to...

Don't think I have seen the official PTP Alliance website been linked yet in this chat. The official name of this project, according to the website, is the "Hove Level Crossing Removal Planning Study". But could change to "Hove Crossing Grade Separation" once the study and community feedback is comp...

Re: Great Southern train from Adelaide to Brisbane: Australia's new luxury train unveiled

The Great Southern will start service from this Friday till the last Friday of January, 6th of December till 24th of January.

Hopefully... There will be once-weekly or once-daily intercity passenger rail service for those who don't mind travelling between the city by rail :3

[PRO] Re: Torrens Road Grade Separation

Freight goes to Islington, but also straight through to Penfield and beyond, branching off at Salisbury. Mhm, gotcha! I hear that if the rail portion of GlobeLink does go ahead, then only trains that will be using the ARTC line would be the "Indian Pacific" (and maybe "Overland", depending on sever...

[PRO] Re: Torrens Road Grade Separation

“Not within the scope of the project” is pretty much DPTIs mission statement. That is true, haha. I think they do worry if they make the project too big, it would affect too many people = less community support. Infrastructure projects are generally toned down unless either the government really wa...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Hmmmm, with TEx wrapping up over the next year or two. Any idea what will the next stage feasibily be? Have checked the Airport's Master Plan for the near future and it looks like an expansion of the south-west wing, plus more gates in the north-east wing too. I do wonder where exactly will the Long...

Minor thing but shouldn’t we rename this thread to Ovingham Crossing (in line with Oaklands Crossing) or Ovingham Level Crossing Removal (in line with project name)? I think the 2nd option would be best, since it's used officially. They won't touch the Hawker Street crossing as it's not within the ...

Here are some photos from Tuesday, just had these two handed out and had a quick chat with the three PTP employees that were there and they spent the afternoon walking around and door knocking residents. Had some info from them, ish. They are looking at a few options for this crossing and are at the...
