Re: Adelaide a city, not a town - Mike Duffy Blog

Though one thing I really want to see, is the interstate reputation of Adelaide & SA change for the better. And thankfully that is now happening thanks to the brilliant work done by Tourism SA with the new tourism campaign, the new website, commercials and tourism brochures (esp Adelaide) look grea...

Re: Sporting facility or Hospital???

I thought only the scoreboard was heritage listed, As it should be. These are the Heritage listed items at the Adelaide Oval: The western public and members grandstands and the famous scoreboard are all items listed on the City of Adelaide Heritage Register This is why Adelaide oval can be nothing ...

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade

An article from ABC noted the achievement and the problems with the H-class: Trams put on a turn outside Parliament ABC News Online The State Government's head of major projects says a trial run of trams on the newly-laid city track in Adelaide has put paid to suggestions that they would not be able...

Re: CBD Height Limits Map

The city shouldn't be planned to cater for through-traffic; it should plan to be the destination itself. If east-west traffic cannot be successfully diverted to ring routes, and if the traffic substantially increases, then I'm all for a cross-city tunnel.

[COM] Re: Oaklands Park Interchange

I'm surprised no-one's posted the render for this. From the redevelopment website : http://www.transadelaide.com.au/marion_oak/resources/large/latest_new_large.png The centre bar along the top of the shelter will be coloured (in orange, in some depictions) like that at the Mawson Interchange: http:/...

Re: Upgrade of Adelaide Rail Network

Yeah Ive noticed that thread as well. Fortunately for them, their filthy rich government is rolling around in billions of $. If only we could lobby the federal govt to fund our upgrade. Ive heard they contributed quite alot to Perths upgrade. I reckon if the same amount of money is spent on our tra...

Re: Adelaide's New fashion strip?

I have to admit, these exaggerated New York comparisons do get tiring. Still, it would be nice to see a revival on Grenfell St, and, more importantly, a makeover. The buildings and streetscape are grotty. I like Grenfell St, I think the streetscape is quite nice, with the hi-rises stepped back from...

Re: CBD Height Limits Map

There are a few pleasant laneways in Adelaide, such as James Place, but they are few . If the council ever did follow Melbourne's lead on laneways, and develop a coherent approach, it would have a great impact on the city's vibrancy. We've many lanes with great potential; for instance, Bank Street i...

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade

I think zebra stripes should be painted across the entire intersection (for each of the 3 scramble crossings). It would be much more effective, in my opinion. That wouldn't do, considering zebra crossings are pedestrian priority at all times. I do agree, though, that some sort of pattern might be m...

Pistol78 wrote:This is excellent news for SA. Is ASC a public company? Time to buy shares.
Not yet. It's still government-owned. As the article makes mention, it's due to be privatised next year, but it's more likely it'll be bought outright by a big international defence firm.

The $1 billion commitment would be spread out over a substantially longer period of time.

Re: Mawson Lakes - Not just another suburb

lol are you sure cruise?, because the State Government have just released more land at Blakeview, Andrews Farm and Evanston. So the gap between Adelaide and Gawler is getting smaller. I'm sure. One of the urban boundary's objectives is maintain a greenbelt between the outer suburbs and Gawler (admi...
