Re: Approved: Latitude (12lvl - 42m)

It is sending a message that Glenelg is closed for business and does not want new investment and people. Well, it is, and they don't. At least as long as the council is stacked by self-interested parties. I hope the government can grow the balls needed to tackle council amalgamation, because it's b...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?

Our winters are rather cold and wet. Not many people would want to visit a theme park under such conditions. And although you mention that England has theme parks regardless of their weather they also have a much, much, much larger population base than us! But furthermore a theme park located 40-50...

Re: How do we lose the 'boring & dull' stereotype?

I still feel quite strongly that our series of festivals are by no means exploited as well as they could be - considering the vast audiences they reach (or have the potential to reach), the relatively limited financial outlay compared to a multi-million dollar tourist development of some kind appea...

[APP] Re: #PRO: 199-200 North Tce | 53m | 18lvls | Student

Yay for ACC bashing... In fairness though, the first design hardly seems dissimilar to any of the other recent residential developments on the boulevard, with the exception of a greater preponderance of glass. And that should be welcomed, IMO. I'm happy with both designs -- torn, in fact. I feel dra...

Sexy artist's impressions still can't sell this building to me. World Tower does this sort of thing infinitesimally better. Boo, hiss! I would like to put World Tower in a basket and send it up the river - a higgledy-piggledy chamber-pot of a building if ever there was one. As for these newly-disco...

Sexy artist's impressions still can't sell this building to me. <s>World Tower</s>Lumière does this sort of thing infinitesimally better.

EDIT: I meant to say Lumière, not the World Tower -- which, although an architectural Frankenstein, still probably tops Spire.

I do know for a fact, but I can't remember the reason why - but no new buildings are allowed to be titled "Royal". I just hate the name still, I don't care if its something boring like Torrens Hospital or City West Hospital or Adelaide Hospital. At least give it a name which is relevant to its purp...

They need a decent master plan for the entire parklands, rather than this piecemeal approach.

Interesting that this will be another project for Oxygen. That's good news, actually, insofar as they've been responsible for a few fabulous projects around the city.

[COM] Re: #PRO: Rundle Place | 93m | 19lvls | Office & Retail

I think it's a decent design, but, as has been remarked, hardly outstanding. The height, however, is great and adds nicely to the density in that area of town. I'm rather intrigued by the zig-zag effect upside the glass façade -- echoes of Bank of China Tower? What an amazing contribution if it were...

It's called a vista, people. A tower may not be the only way to achieve it, but it certainly is an efficacious way.

Any successful design for the square should make it identifiable to all four approaches.

Re: Victoria Square Visions

what a joke - and this is a vision... No thought on attracting real people to stay and enjoy the place, being still surrounded by cars etc. The last decent idea was 5 years ago when the wakefield / grote street was to pass under the square enabling it to become - well - a square. But oh no. Harbo f...

Site was out again for me this morning. Is this more of the same complication or complication with the new server?
